While that is still the case, I have put together a list of a handful of competitors that will be considered for our Miss Iowa Basketball POTY. Each player is someone that is monumental in the success of their perspective team, while also being absolutely dominate in most facets of the game across the board.
Please note: This award, depending on who is giving it, usually only accounts for players competing during their Senior seasons. That will NOT be the case in this situation. Any player, from any grade level is fair game and has a chance to win.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

One of the best overall point guards that the state has to offer comes in the form of 5’10 – Ava Zediker Ava Zediker 5'10" | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA of Dowling Catholic. Zediker, a Creighton Women’s basketball commit, is a game changer on the high school floor in more ways than one. Not only is she an elite scorer, distributor, and defender of the basketball but she is a leader. Whenever the ball is in her hands, the pace of play for her team is just different. She understands all situations on the floor and is very good at communicating with everyone else around her. To start off this 2023-2024 season, Zediker is currently averaging 27.5 PPG, throughout their first three games. At this pace, there is just no way that we can ignore the production that she is creating on the hardwood. From a team aspect, the Maroons are 1-2 right now and that’s not the best but it’s early on in the season and their schedule is the hardest in the 5A Class. Once everyone understands their role a little bit better, things will turn around and all of that hard-work will pay off. I’m excited to have the opportunity to see Zediker compete a few times this winter. She is a next level player and has proven that over the past few years, not only in Iowa but on the national stage as well.
