It’s the last ride for these seniors, so let’s take a look at some of the seniors looking to finish strong this year.
Maliah Preston is an excellent ball handler knowing how to shift the defense with her jab steps and attacking the open lanes. She does a nice job making cuts without the ball, too, relocating to get it back for her own shot. She does a nice job creating plays for her teammates as well knowing how to make a nice dish to them for some points.
Olivia Fava has been a leader for her teams with her ball handling and play making her whole high school career. She is always moving on the court whether she is bringing the ball up with speed, or she is making a cut to the basket ready for the pass as she sneaks behind the defense. She sees the floor well knowing how to make the perfect passes into her teammates on the block, and she makes adjustments to get the right angle. She’s feisty on defense being able to strip the ball from her opponents and push it up the court for a fast break.
Molly Burns has had a dominant preseason so far with Ardrey Kell, and she is certain to continue that in the regular season. She’s always been handling the ball well for her high school career, and she has been finessing these moves and her decision making to be top notch. Her ability to make plays for herself and her teammates is the key to her team’s success as she makes sharp passes, or she sets herself up for her own shot around the perimeter. She’s feisty on defense being able to strip the ball away from her opponents to take the other direction.
Highlights
Laken Powe is a force in the paint on both ends of the court. She rebounds well, and she moves her opponents where she wants them to go in order to be effective on the court. She seals off her opponents easily getting the entry pass, and she knows how to use power dribbles and step around moves to score her points off the glass. Contact doesn’t deter her as she can battle through it for her points.
Highlights
Myla Hoover is aggressive on both ends of the court. She attacks the gaps and creates her own space with her ball handling, and she can definitely make her opponents pay as she knocks down her shot from deep. She runs the floor well knowing how to stay ready for the pass on fast breaks, and she can bring the ball up herself with some speed to get by her opponents.
