She seals off her opponents easily getting the entry pass, and she knows how to use power dribbles and step around moves to score her points off the glass. Contact doesn’t deter her as she can battle through it for her points.

was dominant on the block as usual. She knows how to seal off her opponents and get some points even scoring a quick 10 points against a tough opponent within the first couple of minutes of play. She rebounds the ball well on both ends, and she runs the floor being ready for a pass on a fast break. Her footwork in the paint is what sets her apart and make it difficult for anyone to defend her. Having her presence inside makings her team multi-dimensional.

Powe is a bruiser on the low block. She has excellent hands. Laken seals hard and can catch lobs over the top. She has a good presence about her, using strong post moves with her elbows bowed wide. Laken uses her shoulders to score through defenders and is a good passer out of the post.

Laken continues to be impressive down in the paint with her strength. She really excels with her back to the basket and uses her body well to back down opponents and go up for two or draw fouls. She had a few plays where she was able to grab rebounds and get the ball back up despite being surrounded by multiple defenders.

Powe has a soft set of hands to finish around the cup. Laken has no problems being a mover-screener at times out in the high post while rolling down for a soft lay in at the bucket. Powe will play with her back to the basket and really look to make room working down low on the block.
She helped her team to (4-0) weekend here in Spartanburg.

does a nice job making herself a big target in the paint sealing off her opponents and being ready to score off the pass. She hustles up and down the court being ready to score in transition. There seemed to be very few people who could stop her on the block as she had her way using post moves to score some points.

Powe is a mover-screener down in the post area. She really works to get open and carve out position on the block. Laken will play with her back to the basket while staying in the paint all game long. She was able to finish several shots today though contact for Team Hickory.
