Watts did well stabilizing the half court offense, creating opportunities on drives while maintaining her impact through impactful defense. A particularly quick guard, both laterally and with her first step, she is a thorn in the side of so many opponents. Getting opportunities from drives on multiple occasions both with the left and right hand in traffic, she is composed under tight pressure. Also showing value on catch and shoot threes, she understands how much space is necessary to get the shot off quickly. Defensively, the guard mitigated plenty of driving opportunities, holding opponents outside the perimeter.
Posting a highly productive first half, Rumpf had 14 points in the first 14 minutes of action. Contributing 4 threes and a long two, her jumper was especially consistent throughout the entry of this game. Given her height advantage, there is little opponents can do to contest shots when confident. When inside the arc, they did well keeping passing opportunities available, finding perimeter shooters. Defensively, she held her own in the paint, active on the help side with both arms up.
Belibi sought out driving lanes in transition, actively getting into position to draw fouls or finish layups. Highly active on loose balls, she forced jump balls and second chance opportunities from rebounds, adding to Regis’s dominant effort. Yet another steady season ahead for the forward, among one of the state’s most potent offensive programs.
Highlights
Hodges was particularly valuable on help defense, using her quick instincts to deflect passes and mitigate passes into the interior. She got a couple opportunities in the mid-range, rising up for quick pull-ups following an aggressive closeout.
Greene continues to reaffirm her efficient playstyle, getting to perimeter jumpers and mitigating drives. Capable matching up with a variety of perimeter opponents, Greene did well stunting drives early on.
Neff shows value through her assertive help defense, staying prepared to trap a ball handler who picked up their dribble. She was especially active in the second half, hitting a few threes off the catch.
Arapahoe
Especially assertive in the paint, Gentry could not be stopped grabbing offensive rebounds and drawing fouls. She grabbed plenty of free throws, proving efficient from the line. She drew a few fouls from rolls towards the rim, getting deep into the paint from entry passes. There was little Regis Jesuit could do to slow her down on the glass, getting wherever she wanted.
Smith is one of the most exciting perimeter shotmakers in the state, capable of rising up for shots from anywhere on the floor. Particularly dynamic in the mid-range, there is little anyone can do to slow her down. Thanks to her array of pivots and fades, Smith is simply incredible off the bounce.
A crafty ball handler, Budler’s quick instincts allowed her to facilitate shotmakers with this team.
Highlights
Stark got to a few shots on the move, capable of finding floaters off balance. Her ball handling repertoire was on display, utilizing behind the back moves to free up space in traffic.
Scheid was impactful on help side defense, trapping early once opponents picked up their dribble.
