The class of 2024 was the first to be adjusted as these seniors are already into their last high school season. Let’s take a look at some of the stock rising guards from the group.
Lili Booker is finishing up her high school season with Mallard Creek, and she is fitting right in with the increased tempo team. Her defense is continuing to be top notch against difficult opponents finding ways to rattle their ball handling and swipe away steals. She is a three level scorer on the other end knowing how to power through her defenders or create her own space to show off her jump shot.
Olivia Tucker is continuing her sensational 2023 into her high school season. The reigning state champion is sure to keep attacking the gaps both with and without the ball as she knows how to time her cuts to make them effective. She’s smart when handling the ball knowing how to pick her move, execute it, and see her defender get lost behind her. She gets to the rim easily and can knock down her shot from all over the court.
Kaylee Carson is back with a vengeance sure to show off her ability to create plays on all levels for her senior season. You can see how being a student of the game pays off as her IQ, speed, and playmaking ability have gotten even better during her absence from playing on the court. She is crafty with her ball handling knowing how to make her moves to find the open space, and she knows how to create plays for her teammates adjusting to make the perfect pass. Her shot is still a beauty from all over the court.
Boston Bates officially surpassed the 1,000 point milestone, and the fun thing about her as a player is she does so much more than score. She plays with high intensity every minute that she’s on the court being able to constantly move finding the openings and shifting the defense. She can score on all levels using change of direction moves making her defenders lose their footing. Her defense is always an asset being able to guard any tough opponent knowing how to slow down an offense and protect the basket.
Demya Phifer is returning to her 3A state champion team continuing to lead them as a senior this season. She is feisty on both ends of the ball being able to attack the basket battling through contact, and she can grab a steal anticipating what her opponents will do on defense. She has a way of getting to the rim rolling the ball off her fingertips that is fun to watch, and she is speedy hustling up and down the court scoring on fast breaks.
