Jones has always been filled with potential, but (as projected here) 23-24 has been Jones’ coming out party! Jones is averaging a stunning 2.3 blocks per game (top 5 in state), and her 2.32 blocks per foul is among the state leaders. She’s recently put up the following lines:
14pts, 5reb, 2 blocks
16 pts, 5 rebs, 4 blocks
18 pts, 10 rebs, 2 blocks
Ava Jones is just getting started!
Hurst is in the top 10 in the state averaging 2 blocks per game. What I love are her steals (2.5)! One stat I like to look at is “Stocks” — Steals + blocks = STOCKS. Hurst is averaging 4.5 stocks which is game changing! Her 12.5 pts and 9.5 rebs are in line with expectations. Her offensive and defensive upside continue to be off the charts!
Story is another player that we here at PGH predicted for a breakout year: and she’s killing it! Her 1.9 blocks per game put her in the top 10, but her 3 blocks per foul is leading the state! She’s recently had stat lines of the following:
24 pts, 11 reb 5 blocks
19 pts, 8 rebs, 5 blocks
18 pts, 7 rebs, 4 blocks
Story is a 6’3 wing just tapping into her potential, and you can find her hiding in “blocks per game.”
Williams is averaging 1.7 blocks per game which put her in the top 15. She’s putting up a solid 7 pts 7 rebs for Bartlett as they seek to compete for another state crown.
Thompson is a fascinating player because she’s only 5’9, but still averages 1.7 blocks (top 15) and 3.3 steal (top 5). She’s one of the best defensive players in the state, while also averaging 18 pts and 9 reb. Terrific ’25 prospect.
Masingale is in the top 10 in the state in blocks averaging 2.2 per game. Now, this number isn’t sustainable, but that’s why I liked this look at the “Top Blocks” list. It had the best players in the state…and in Masingale’s case….she’s not a shot blocker! But she’s led McMinn Central through perhaps the toughest early season schedule in the state while averaging almost 23 points per game.
