Christmas time has come and gone. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Now that you have spent time with your loved ones, now it's back to the hoops season. Some schools from the Volunteer state descended down to the Sunshine state to compete in Tampa. Its a business trip, so no leisure is really going on. Our clubs are down there putting in that work, getting ready to come back to the state for district play.

Day 1 saw our clubs in action doing what they do best. Though everyone didn't come out with a victory, you better believe day 2 they will be ready to redeem themselves. Here are some notable standouts from Day 1 from the Tampa Bay Christmas Tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='810602' first='Rylee' last='Roberts'] And [player_tooltip player_id='810646' first='Reese' last='Roberts'] (Karns)- The sisters were on fire from the field and led their club in points scoring 18 points(Reese) and 17 points (Rylee). The duo was hard to stop, as they found the bottom of the cup with ease. They were active on defense, contributed on the boards, and were creating havoc leading to easy transitional buckets. The girls were having fun out there and they kicked off the start of their tournament with a bang.

[player_tooltip player_id='513278' first='Kayte' last='Madison Bjornstad'] and [player_tooltip player_id='405709' first='Daisy' last='Gale'] (PCA)- Double trouble, the tandem was out there killing it from the inside and out. Kam dropped 14 points and controlled the boards, bringing down 11 rebs. Daisy was slashing through the rim , dropping 18 points allowing the way. They're ability to control the tempo, provided open looks for teammates as the opponent tried to slow them down in the second half. Look for these girls to continue to capitalize on this momentum they have going for the Lady Lions. This club has yet to reach their peak and will be tough to deal with during tournament time.

Anaya Mullholland, [player_tooltip player_id='810518' first='Tionna' last='Davis'], [player_tooltip player_id='405843' first='Saviya' last='Morgan'] (Columbia Central)- The trio are the leading catalyst for the Lady Lions success this year. So far, they have had an outstanding season and they are feeling it! These girls are hot and the purple and gold came down to the Sunshine state on a mission. They had an exceptional two-way game, creating turnovers by the bunches. They were clutch from the field, getting in gaps and knocking down open shots. These girls are special and they are going to be tough to deal with come tournament time.

[player_tooltip player_id='810651' first='Kaylee' last='Oler'] (Science Hill)- Was letting it fly from the field knocking down clutch shots from all over. She brought the energy for her club and helped propel them to victory today. Her ability to shoot the rock is incredible and she is a heady player who loves to compete.

[player_tooltip player_id='513242' first='Brilee' last='Price'] ( Ezell- Harding)- The speedy forward was a problem today and she led her club in points and rebounds. Though her team didn't come out on top, she showed flashes of why she is one of the hottest girls in the state right now. She's active on the defensive end, gets to the lane with ease, and instills toughness for her ballclub. Look for her and the Lady Eagles to bounce back tomorrow.

[player_tooltip player_id='411847' first='Aliyah' last='Hawkins'] (Cumberland County)- Speedo was nice today even though her team came up short. From knocking down the 3 to putting the ball on the floor and getting to the hoop, Aliyah was at the forefront of the Lady Jets offensive attack. Though the girls didn't finish with a W, look for them to bring it tomorrow as they look to rebound and show everyone in attendance what they are made up. As long as they have this kid in their corner, expect a ball game cause she's super tough.

[player_tooltip player_id='810510' first='Annie' last='Priest'] (Farragut)- Though the club didn't win, look for them to be ready to get it on tomorrow. Annie is one of the toughest competitors on her ball club. This stellar guard is a tough kid who can score it on all 3 levels. The ball didn't bounce their way today, but believe me, the Lady Admirals will be ready tomorrow.

Lanee Carmicheal (Clinton)- Continues to be impressive with her shooting ability. She was stroking it from all 3 levels, she was on the boards, she dimed up her teammates. The kid is having an impressive season thus far, and her ability to lead and compete is the reason why. Though her team lost a close battle, they showed everyone they mean business. Look for Lanee and her crew to redeem themselves and get back into the win column tomorrow.
