The 1st week of the 2023-24 Kentucky high school basketball season just wrapped up and there was some extremely impressive performances in the 1st week. I want to highlight some of the players that absolutely stuffed the stat sheet in week 1. First I want to note that I tried to avoid any repeats from Akeem's articles (check out part 1 here and part 2 here), so if you aren't included, it may be because you're in his articles. Also would like to note that this is not a comprehensive list and I apologize for any deserving performances that are missing below!

Her team is off to a 3-0 start and she averaged 25.5 PPG u0026amp; 8 RPG through the 1st 2 games (haven't seen the stats yet from their 72-8 win last night). Varney absolutely stuffed the stat sheet versus Etown with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. Varney is a crafty 3-level scorer, but she obviously brings much more than scoring to the court. If any college coaches are reading this, I highly recommend you take a look at her highlights from last season (u003ca href=u0022https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15510238/64126d7d9a9b33107ce2f5d7u0022u003elinked hereu003c/au003e) and try to catch her in action this season.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["493155"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"I knew Green was poised to have a breakout season this year, but I wasn't prepared for her stat lines in the 1st 2 games of the season. In game 1, she finished with 22 points, 9 steals, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 14 deflections. She followed that up with a performance of 14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. She has quite literally been stuffing the stat sheet early on this season and the 2026 guard is really just getting started.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["502132"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Whitaker has fit the definition of u0022stat stufferu0022 to perfection to start off this season. Her team is currently 2-0 and she is leading the way for the Lady Comets averaging 23.5 PPG and 10 RPG. She is the kind of player you'll likely see in every single statistical category at the end of each game though. In Carlisle County's season opener, Whitaker finished with 22 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. In their next game, she went for a huge double-double, 25 points and 16 rebounds, along with 3 assists and 3 steals. Don't be surprised to see her maintain that double-double average throughout the season as she continues to stuff the stat sheet.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["761880"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Koch is one of the biggest hidden stars in the state. As more people watch her play, their eyes are opened to how talented this 2026 guard truly is. In 3 games, she's averaging 19.7 PPG and 7.3 RPG while shooting 53.5% overall and 40% from 3. She opened her sophomore season by scoring 19 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing out 3 assists. In the 2nd game of the season, Koch put up 20 points, 6 steals, and 5 rebounds. She followed that up with a big double-double scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. A 5'8 guard, she plays with so much heart and you don't have to question her effort. She's really poised to have a huge season this year.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_4_player_details_player_name":"[player_tooltip player_id='1059182' first='Tessa' last='Miles']","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_4_player_details_graduating_class":"2025","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_4_player_details_height":"null","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_4_player_details_position":"12121","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_4_player_details_school":"Bethlehem","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_4_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_4_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_4_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_4_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"Miles is carrying over her impressive season on the soccer field straight to the basketball court. In Bethlehem's first 3 games of the season, Miles is the Banshees 2nd leading scorer and 2nd leading rebounder, only behind Macy, her top-10 nationally ranked teammate. She is currently averaging 17.3 PPG and 4.3 RPG. Miles is the kind of player that can do a little bit of everything when she's on the court. She's a lockdown defender who can come up with a lot of steals, along with being a playmaker on the offensive end of the court. She was just named Player of the Game on Saturday after putting up 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals versus McCracken County who is one of the top teams across the state.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_5_player":["605643"],"_player_evaluations_5_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"Ashcraft has started her sophomore season off very strong so far. She's averaging 14.2 PPG (team-best) and 3.2 RPG, but she has really been filling up the stat sheet. In one game, Ashcraft put up 17 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. She followed that up with 7 points, 5 steals, and 4 rebounds. Then she continued her stat stuffing streak with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. She has done a great job creating offense for her team, whether that be good looks herself or dishing out assists to her teammates. She has read the passing lanes so well defensively as well.","_player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":6,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-656f5c271879c"} /-->
