Though the girls in purple and black fell, they showed tremendous growth and competed their tails off down in PCB. They are a young squad, but will be tough to handle down the stretch.
All the teams from the Volunteer state competed and I will say got better. The coaches left feel very optimistic in what they saw and how their clubs performed. They fought tooth in nail and the kids responded in such a way that was very promising .
Here are some notable standouts from the Marlins Classic.
Blake Maple Blake Maple 5'8" | CG Lipscomb Academy | 2027 TN (Lipscomb Academy)– The freshman grew up in this tournament and just played the game fearlessly. She was all over the court, rebounding, driving to the paint, locking up on D, and made clutch shots. Her confidence was through the roof and she will be riding high come district play next week.
Bella Shepherd Bella Shepherd 5'6" | SG Lipscomb-Academy | 2026 State TN (Lipscomb Academy)– The freshman guard had a stellar performance hitting shots from beyond the arc or getting paint touches. She fought her way through some tough defensive teams, but was able to leave her mark on every game . Though her team came up short in the final game, they grew tremendously and collectively.
Maddyn Merritt (Lipscomb Academy)-The junior wing was tough to handle in every game during the tournament. Her ability to create with the ball in her hands and finish was pretty impressive. She was clutch from all 3 levels and contributed on the boards as well. Solid prospect who will continue to grow and do bit things.
Ella Ryan Ella Ryan 5'10" | PG Brentwood | 2025 State TN (Brentwood) – The fearless leader is the engine that helps the Lady Bruins run. Heady ball player who is creative and can do so much with the ball in her hands. She’s poised, sees the floor well, and can exploit any and all defenses thrown at her. Great kid who continues to get better every time she steps on the floor.
Paige Morris Paige Morris 5'6" | SG Brentwood | 2026 State TN ( Brentwood)– This kid is on an upwards trajectory. She was big on the defensive end, keeping girls in front of her. On the offensive end, she picked her spots, knocking down shots when her team needed a bucket. Great kid who is on an upwards trend.
Caroline Kieffaber Caroline Kieffaber 6'0" | PF Father Ryan | 2026 State TN (Father Ryan)– Tough kid who was big on the boards for the Lady Irish. Caroline hit the shots she was supposed to, but when it came to rebounding and defense, she was phenomenal. The Lady Irish are fundamentally sound and this young lady is that plus more. Great prospect who can help out the ball club in multiple ways.
