One of those articles being our Player Of The Week. The POTW is an individual that displayed what it means to put on a major performance/s for their perspective squad. A player can win this award for a number of reasons but most importantly because their overall play helped lead their team to a competitive contest.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

When talking about the player of the week, you have to take in consideration all of the surrounding factors. Factors such as their stat line, the competition level they are playing against, other intangibles that aren’t on a stat sheet like tips/defections, and much more. The player that had the best game this week throughout the state, when considering all those factors, is Ava Locklear Ava Locklear 5'11" | SF Clear Creek Amana | 2024 State IA of CCA High School. Locklear scored 26 points on 11-17 shooting, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out a few assists in the process. What’s most impressive about this outing was the opponent they played. In this one, CCA had to go on the road and travel to #1 ranked Solon High School out of the 3A Class for a rematch from last year. In the end, the Clippers secured an impressive win but the score is somewhat deceiving. If it wasn’t for a spectacular 4th quarter for the Clippers and a tough one by the Spartans, we would be having a different conversation today. All in all though, Locklear got whatever she wanted offensively in this contest. Didn’t matter if it was at the rim or in the midrange, she was cooking any opponent that tried to stop her on each possession. I’m expecting more of this same production for the rest of the 2023-2024 season. With the teammates she has around her, it should lead to consistent 1 on 1 matchups each game. Something she can take full advantage of.
