The Eagles do a phenomenal job of forcing their opposition to play at their pace and have a gift for creating transition and fast break opportunities, by turning defense into offense --The Eagles continuously jump passing lanes, deny swing-passes, hedge screens, and play tenacious help-side defense. Hobbs is an exceptional rebounding team with both forwards and guards who crash the glass. The Eagles are always looking for early-offense with leak-outs as they have multiple players SPRINT the floor, putting stress on opposing guards to get back and not be beat by the throw ahead pass.

Rebounding helps you become a better defensive team overall:

[The] final component to any great defense is securing the basketball after one shot
Tim Legler, former NBA Player & Current ESPN Analyst

Leading the way was forward [player_tooltip player_id='467050' first='Kyndle' last='Cunningham'] who averaged 13.3 ppg for Hobbs. Cunningham was fantastic protecting the paint with her length and toughness. Kyndle is a great help-side defender and rebounder who is relentless on the glass, giving multiple efforts on both ends of the floor. [player_tooltip player_id='458555' first='Bhret' last='Clay'] averaged 12.6 ppg for the Eagles, relentlessly attacking the basket all tournament long. The explosive Clay, has the freedom and confidence to take the ball coast-2-coast and has a knack for getting to the charity stripe -- the junior is crafty at initiating contact and shielding the defender from altering her shot. Wing player [player_tooltip player_id='467055' first='Nakia' last='Mojica'] who averaged 12 ppg for the tournament was solid in DHO situations. Mojica was able to score both off the dribble, and space the floor with her 3-point shot. [player_tooltip player_id='458556' first='Brynn' last='Hargrove'] was deadly with her outside shot. Posting a cool 13 ppg, the junior guard was making 3s off the bounce utilizing a smooth step-back. An underrated aspect of Hargrove's game is the willingness to make the extra pass, passing up a good shot for a great shot. Providing production off the bench was [player_tooltip player_id='831118' first='Aliana' last='Armitage'] who also averaged 13.3 ppg. Armitage gives the Eagles a change of pace at the guard position, possessing a terrific motor. Aliana is an outstanding on-ball defender and a fierce competitor. The sophomore also does a good job of keeping her head up while in the open-court.

*Eagles second midseason tournament title -- also won the Capital HS Al Armendariz Tournament*

Additional Top Performers and Performances

[player_tooltip player_id='391117' first='Jazlene' last='Ruiz'] | Mayfield

15 points vs Valencia in the 'LCPS: Holiday Hoopla'

Physical guard that is tough to stop once downhill.
