On January 12th, the Sunrise Mountain Lady Mustangs traveled to Glendale to take on the Cougars of Kellis. The game was a physical match that went back and forth for the majority of the first three quarters. In the final quarter, the Cougars got going and never looked back. A decisive 23-4 final quarter gave the Cougars the 64-37 victory.

Here, I take a look at a few of the standouts from this contest:

[player_tooltip player_id='677263' first='Nevaeh' last='Limbacher'] Kellis

Limbacher is a long, agile forward who gave the Mustangs fits all night. She showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and use either hand to finish near the rim, which made her almost unguardable. On defense, she has very good timing in blocking or altering shots. She's one of the stock risers in the 2026 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='837250' first='Addison' last='Weimann'] Sunrise Mountain

My first time viewing Wiemann and I came away impressed. She runs the floor extremely well for her size. Addison is also a very good rebounder. She will come out and shoot the perimeter shot as she showed a very good touch.

[player_tooltip player_id='758872' first='Luz' last='Marian Santos Mas'] Kellis

Luz showed her aggressiveness on offense as well as composure. Even though she started off slow, she picked it up in the 2nd half, sparking a 4th quarter run. She played very good defense and hit some timely shots in the final quarter.

[player_tooltip player_id='660218' first='Shanielle' last='Mallory'] Kellis

Extremely fast from end to end, Mallory is hard to stay in front of. She displayed very good leadership skills as she sacrificed her offense to take advantage of mismatches that her teammates had. When she did shoot, she showed a variety of perimeter shots and a nice floater game.

[player_tooltip player_id='608973' first='Savanna' last='Dotray'] Sunrise Mountain

Dotray has expanded her game and is very comfortable running the point when called upon. She is a vocal leader and is like having a coach on the floor by using her championship experience. She still managed to stay aggressive on offense using her deadly mid-range game.

[player_tooltip player_id='831762' first='Mia' last='Wolfe'] Kellis

The freshman played with the court awareness of an upperclassman. She showed the ability to make passes with either hand very easily and accurately. She didn't shoot it as well as she normally does, but she shot it with range and confidence.

BONUS:

[player_tooltip player_id='659856' first='Izabella' last='Juarez'] ALA West Foothills

Juarez was playing in her first game eligible after transferring over. She did not disappoint, as she finished with 35 points and 11 rebounds. She looked as if she didn't miss a beat as she hit threes, mid-range shots and got out on the break. She will only get more comfortable as the 2nd half of the season continues.

[player_tooltip player_id='530980' first='Amanda' last='Wiley'] Yuma Catholic

The junior forward did all that she could to give her team a chance to win the game. Wiley has a versatile offensive game as she hit shots from both the perimeter and the interior. She displayed a very good feel for when to shoot and when to pass, as she never forced the action. She's also a very good rebounder as she finished with 10+ boards.
