Game Summary

Tates Creek ran a full-court press the whole game, which seemed to catch LCA by surprise in the 1st quarter but they adjusted in the 2nd quarter and did a good job handling the pressure, and started passing the ball instead of trying to dribble through it, which led to points in transition for LCA. Tates Creek looked good in the first half, they ran their offensive sets, moved the ball well and capitalized off forced turnovers from the press, entered halftime up 19-16. I wish I knew what was said by Coach Costner in the locker room during halftime, because whatever she said really motivated her team. They came out firing on all cylinders and went on a 11-0 run to start the 3rd quarter, entering the 4th quarter up 38-24 and pretty much never looked back after that.

Below, you will find my standouts from this game:

[player_tooltip player_id='1120434' first='Jentry' last='Bertram']-LCA-Forward-2026
Very active on the glass, kept a tight grip on the ball and made sure to secure the board. She didn't mind doing the dirty work down low and was very effective in transition, where she either scored or dished it to an open teammate for the assist.

[player_tooltip player_id='254283' first='Claire' last='Roberts']-LCA
Roberts played under control and let the game come to her on offense and didn't force it. She hustled got on the floor for loose balls and used her length to deflect passes on defense. She also hit a big 3 from the corner in the 4th qtr giving her team a much needed bucket.

Jeriko Castle-LCA-5'8-Forward-2028
"Koko" played physical on both ends, showed tremendous footwork in the post and finished well at the rim. I like how she denied the post entry pass on defense, and got up and down the floor on the fast break.

[player_tooltip player_id='885329' first='Chapel' last='Brown']-LCA-Guard-2025
Brown was aggressive on offense, she constantly got into the lane and found ways to score in the paint or created contact that led to trips to the free throw line. She also came up with steals on defense, did a good job making herself available to score in transition and showed nice touch on a baseline floater.

[player_tooltip player_id='743666' first='Kaleigh' last='Potts']-Tates Creek
Potts showed poise and control while running through the offensive sets and made sure to get everyone involved by making timely passes to put them in position to score. She penetrated the lane on occasion and finished through contact inside as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='937494' first='Miracle' last='Morbley']-Tates Creek-5'4-PG-2025
Wreaked havoc on the defensive end by applying intense ball pressure and using active hands during the press to cause turnovers. She came up with a ton of steals that led to points the other way. Morbley showed off her range from deep and used her blazing speed, quickness and terrific handles to get past defenders to penetrate and kick or score at the rims.

[player_tooltip player_id='502107' first='Ashton' last='Harris']-Tates Creek
Harris was unstoppable in this game, she showed that she is a 3-level scoring threat, that can also defend the post as well as the perimeter. She rebounded ball very well and did a great job kicking the ball out to open shooters when the double team came.

Isabelle Ellison-Tates Creek-5'10-SG-2029
Ellison has good size, length and a smooth outside shooting stroke. She caught fire from downtown in the 3rd qtr and made 3 in a row from beyond the arc to extend the lead.
