Bishop McNamara came into this game missing one of the best guards in the Country, Maddy McDaniel. Mary Amoateng Mary Amoateng 5’8″ | PG Bishop McNamara | 2025 State MD did a great job stepping into the role of starting PG. Mary did not have a huge day as a scorer, but her passing and ability to take care of the ball were huge. She also had a nice day on the glass, finishing with 8 rebounds. She had 5 assists in a game and looked unbothered by her replacing a great player.
For a few reasons, the game started to go in Bishop McNamara’s favor in the 3rd quarter. One of the biggest ones was the shooting of Qandace Samuels Qandace Samuels 6’1″ | SF Bishop McNamara | 2027 State MD . She hit 4 second-half threes and led all scorers with 14. Qandance, only a freshman has done great all year as a spot up shooter and will be a force moving froward.
Highlights
The Bishop McNamara defense dominated this game, holding PVI to only 33 points. Zhen Craft Zhen Craft 6’2″ | SF Bishop McNamara | 2025 State MD ‘s length and versatility were pivotal to McNamara’s stifling PVI, especially in the second half. Zhen also did a great job on the glass and had some excellent finishes. Zhen finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds to show for her stellar performance on both ends.
Highlights
Morgan Stewart Morgan Stewart 5’9″ | PG St John’s College | 2026 MD had as good of a day on defense as any individual I saw on the day. Nyla Brooks Nyla Brooks 6’2″ | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA is a superstar talent, and Morgan was able to give her a lot of trouble. Morgan competed all game and propelled a St. John’s defense that held a potent Bishop Ireton offense to only 42 points. Morgan finished with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Highlights
Carolae Barton Carolae Barton 6’2″ | PF St. John’s College | 2024 State MD was probably the player of the day. This Ireton Vs. St. John’s game was physical and gritty, and that was something Carolae relished in. She dominated the glass and felt like she was always around the ball. She used her strength to move people around, and Ireton had no answer for her. Carolae had a monster rebounding night with 15 total, 8 of those being offensive. She also had 10 points to cap off her excellent game.
Bishop Ireton was behind by double digits for much of this game, and they had difficulty getting any offense. Their biggest run was late in the 4th quarter when they ended up cutting St. John’s lead to a single possession. Theresa Hagans Theresa Hagans 5’9″ | PG Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA ‘s shooting was the catalyst to their offense picking up, and she was far and away the best Ireton player today offensively. She knocked down 3 of Bishop Ireton’s 6 threes and finished with 13 points.
