Letting the game come to her was the biggest difference between the two games. After ending the game against Mullen with only 6 points, she ended the half against Valor with 12 points on 3-5 for 8 shooting. Setting the tone for the 2nd half, Damara was able to come out and keep the defense honest by staying aggressive and taking what was giving to her.rn
Highlights
Valor punched their ticket to the championship game Saturday afternoon with a win against the top-seeded Cherokee Trail. Win that gave Valor some much-needed validation after coming into the season underdogs. While they plenty of players that have played a huge part in their success none of them were more important than Payton Jones Thursday night. She was the second leading scorer on the team with 13 points on 3-7 shooting from the field. Payton’s ability to find holes in the zone was the difference in the game, she showed off her scoring range knocking down shots from all 3 levels of the floor.
Regis Jesuit had its struggles with Legend during their Final Four matchup but seemed to have the chance to get back in the game. Every time they made a run Legend matched it. Hana Belibi Hana Belibi 6’0″ | SF Regis Jesuit | 2024 State CO happened to be a constant player for Regis willing them back into the game with her defensive pressure and finishing at the rim. When your best players give it their all the team usually follows along with them and that is how they were able to get back into the game during the 4th quarter.
Highlights
Legend has had one of the most impressive seasons with 24 wins which is a record for girls’ basketball. Along with their first-ever trip to the Final Four, which ended with a loss to Regis. Mason Borcherding Mason Borcherding 6’1″ | PF Legend | 2025 State CO was the catalyst for this team’s success, and it didn’t stop in the Final Four. She controls the paint of both ends of the floor making her a tough cover. During the game against Regis is controlled the glass and was able to make contested shots.
