Ella Mahaffey Ella Mahaffey 5’8″ | SF Riverside | 2024 State VA is one of the most gifted shot creators in the state. A lot of Riverside’s offense runs through Ella, and creating your offense from three instead of catching and shooting is very difficult. Ella uses her handle and size to get her shots off, and when she gets hot, she is unstoppable.
Sravya Janapati Sravya Janapati 5’8″ | SG Stone Bridge HS | 2026 State VA is probably the most efficient high-volume shooter in NOVA. Sravya shattered Stone Bridge’s previous record of threes made in a season with 73 threes on 39% from three. Sravya does her best spotting up, but she can create quality shots from three when her name is called. I’ve seen her use an excellent step back when she needs to create for herself from three.
Another Stone Bridge Bulldog who shot the ball at a high level this year was Senior Guard Addie Hafer Addie Hafer 5’5″ | SG Stone Bridge | 2024 State VA . Addie was not a player I had on my radar early in the year, but she became a known talent after a long string of ultra-impressive shooting performances. Addie is not much of a creator from three, but she is as good of a spot-up shooter as anyone. She was efficient, knocking down almost 40% of her shots behind the arc, and she had a game where she hit 10 threes, breaking Stone Bridge’s single-game record.
Sabrina Anderson Sabrina Anderson 5’8″ | PG Potomac School | 2027 State VA is my pick for the best shot creator from the three in Nova. She has a high-level handle and makes tough shots. She has tremendous range, and her efficiency was solid for someone who took many tough shots at a high volume. Sabrina made a spectacular 83 threes at 36%.
Sofia Caraus Sofia Caraus 5’9″ | SG Centreville | 2026 State VA has one of the best looking jump shots I’ve seen. She is an excellent spot-up shooter and shoots the ball with high efficiency. This year, Centreville had so much talent, and Sofia’s shooting complimented them perfectly. I always expect her shots to go in when Sofia gets a good look, and she is almost automatic from the corner. When I watched Sofia at the prep hoops showcase in September, she showed a little bit more as a creator, so it will be interesting if that’s something you see more with her. Either way, this is one of the best shooters in the state.
Maia Melendez Maia Melendez 5’3″ | PG Woodbridge HS | 2027 State VA has the most range from anyone on this list, which is impressive, considering she’s probably the smallest. She has out of the gym range and is effective as a shooter on or off the ball. Maia had an outstanding freshman season shooting the ball and is a player to watch this AAU season.
