Statistically, she made huge jumps in every category, almost doubling her points and rebounds. Penny is a high-volume scoring guard who at 5’10 can get it done in a variety of ways. She is an improved ball handler that has now has the capacity to go the full length of the floor and finish at the rim herself or can pull up in midrange after attacking with combo moves.

Under a new head coach, Tony Speights this season at Rangeview was a lot different for D’Ajha Horton D’Ajha Horton 5’10” Rangeview | 2024 CO . She was able to show off how versatile her game actually is, as a big guard can disrupt smaller guards on defense by forcing them to bad spots on the floor. Allowing her to get steals and run the break. Offensively she was more composed and let the game come to her. That is why you see the boost in her numbers around and her being a player that is higher on our list.
Cherry Creek has been a powerhouse for the 3 years, talent-wise at least. But, talent isn’t the only thing that wins games. You need players who are willing to do all the other things too, which is where Mireya Johnson Mireya Johnson 5’6″ | CG Cherry Creek | 2024 State CO comes in. Her numbers might not show it but she was the X-Factor of the team this season. Her willingness to defend each night gives them an advantage when teams start to sub in secondary guards. Locking girls up is what usually triggered her offensive game, knocking down big shots or getting to the rim off the dribble were all things that caught opposing teams off guard.
Northfield was a team that certainly had a lot of different pieces. Which is what made them so tough to play against. One of those huge pieces was Nashara Ellerbee Nashara Ellerbee 6’0″ | PF Northfield | 2024 State CO , she brought veteran experience and leadership to a team that had had a lot of freshmen. New coach Sydney Price gave her the confidence to play her game. This resulted in a jump in her numbers across the board.
Mead is a team that will always be in the conversation for a championship every year, regardless of how young or experienced their players are. They are a solid team that lives by the next player-up mindset. So, with them losing some players to graduation Gianna Wurth Gianna Wurth 5’9″ | SF Mead | 2024 State CO was called to step into more of a leadership role for the team. Not just vocally but also on the court, this season she became a more reliable defensive presence. She was active in passing lanes and was able to create turnovers leading to easy points on break.
