There were talented players that made the round of 4 that I’m really hoping we all get to see during grassroots season. Let’s take a look at some players that we should watch during the spring and summer that made it to the semifinals of the playoffs.
The good news for Belleville is that I could have put like 5 players here. Buschell will be a huge part of a state title contending team once again next year. She’s a terrific 2 way player that will go %110 whenever she’s on the floor. Buschell is creative with her finishes and can create for and find her teammates off the bounce.
Mateer definitely stood out with her play in the semifinals. She was efficient and effective in many aspects of the game. Mateer played 36 minutes against an elite defense and had only 1 turnover. She can put points on the scoreboard, but doesn’t have to be ball dominant to do so.
Seely-London is a talented player with a big time future. I really like the upside in her already skilled game. She logged 19 minutes on the biggest of stages for West Catholic. Seely-London had a really good grassroots season last year and I suspect that will continue this year. When you watch her play, enjoy that jumper.
Macavage was critical in Lutheran Northwest’s storybook post season run. Her strong mental game and sound decision making with the ball were key aspects of her team’s success. Watch her this grassroots season and you’ll see that Macavage can go get a bucket as well. She can finish at the rim as well as shoot from behind the arc.
Spicer is a player to keep an eye on this spring and summer. She was a big part of Fowler’s magical run to the Final 4 this season. In the semifinal game she led her team with 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds as well. Spicer is fast with the ball and an aggressive straight line driver.
