Glover is one of the most explosive guards in not only her class, but in Texas period and I caught up with her to start the club season at the Simmie Colson Classic see evaluation here . She’s always been explosive yet she’s more under control and when you have that as well as SWB, speed with the ball, that’s a nice combination. She blows by defenders to score or dish yet her finishes after contact are very nice, so is her pull-up jumper in the set as well as “stop and pop” in transition yet her smothering defense baseline to baseline is special
Grona has been on the cuff since I caught her in middle school yet I lost track of her with one of her previous club teams that didn’t think enough of his squad to turn in rosters. Fast forward to now, new club program brought me an updated sheet before the game since some number had changed and low and behold, she added magic from yesteryear. She’s heady and won’t break, her ability to run a team, control the tempo and handle the ball, all under pressure took me back to another era, so #THROWBACK. She adds another hashtag, #sizedontmatter because she can play and her court vision as well as dropping the jumper were very nice, so was her defense and playing the passing lane
Diaz left a lasting first impression as I caught her via Livestream as told you she’d be added in my UIL-5A First Look teams in the regional semis and all I could hear form the announcers was how many points she could put up, yet they said that about a lot of players and my thing is “I’m not a NOVICE, I have to see you” plus “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” and watching her score gracefully off the dribble after setting the defender up with a deceptive first step to score attacking the basket, body control was nice and she did it after the lick. She also created her shot under pressure and dropped it with a hand in her face. She saw the floor, made the right decisions and played solid defensern
Dickson falls into that “I knew her before she was born” category as her mom and aunt along with my 2 daughters used to play basketball together in elementary school so I heard tidbits about her game from others yet I never put everything together until I caught her during the playoffs see evaluation here. Here’s the deal, she was even better LIVE than LIVESTREAM and watching er set the defender up using the slight HEZ or the crossover got me going, so did her acrobatic finishes but she also did a good job dropping the mid to long-range jumper, as well as playing the passing lane. Her defense was solid, she’s a “long and athletic” guard so her upside is also good
Highlights
Alexis “write this eval for me” oh my bad, that’s ALEXA yet Makennah is writing her on ticket and her “coming out and showing out” in the playoffs took plenty pressure off of her sister Aniah Alexis Aniah Alexis 5’8″ | SG Cy Lakes | 2024 State TX who was one of the top guards in the 2024 class. What grabbed me about the baby sister was she showed me she was NOT A BABY and her “poise under pressure” whether it was knocking down big shots, NBA range 3 or off the dribble with the FLOATA, down the stretch or maybe her on the ball pressure and playing the passing lane did it. No, it was a combination because she stayed cool and her decision making and court vision all played a part on her being here
