In this report, I want to “reflect on” four seniors who finished their high school careers with state championship victories. This will be the first of multiple reports in the next few weeks, which serve as my “good-bye” and “good-luck wishes” to the Kansas Class of 2024.

Every high school athlete has dreams of going out on top and these four accomplished that goal.

[player_tooltip player_id='197235' first='Camryn' last='Smith'], 5'8”, CG, Shawnee Mission South

Smith finished her high school career with a Class 6A State title run. She scored a team-high 17 points in the title game. Smith averaged 15 points per game in the three games in the state tournament in Wichita. She is currently ranked No. 7 overall by Prep Girls Hoops and has signed to play collegiate basketball for Missouri Western.

[player_tooltip player_id='231289' first='Taylin' last='Stallbaumer'], 5'7”, CG, Seaman

Stallbaumer finished her high school career with back-to-back Class 5A state championships. The quick and athletic guard finished with six points, four rebounds, and three assists in the title game. She had a solid tournament. Her best scoring game of the tournament was a 14-point outburst in a semifinal upset over Andover. She is ranked No. 16 by Prep Girls Hoops and has chosen to play volleyball at Johnson County Community College.

[player_tooltip player_id='453757' first='Makenzie' last='McDaniel'], 6'1”, C, Silver Lake

McDaniel scored 25 points in Silver Lake's Class 3A State Championship game. She averaged a double-double for the tournament. She scored 20 points in the state semifinal game. McDaniel has signed to play with Emporia State University and is ranked No. 40 in the class of 2024 by Prep Girls Hoops.

[player_tooltip player_id='453760' first='Stephie-Safi' last='Salumu'], 6'0”, SF, The Independent School

Salumu was the lone senior for the Class 2A State Champion Panthers. She was clutch in the Panthers' title game win over Riverside as she shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line and 12 total points. In fact, Salumu did not miss a single free throw attempt in the three state tournament contests. She is currently ranked No. 47 by Prep Girls Hoops, and to my knowledge is still uncommitted.
