In today's scouting report, I dive deep into the Kansas rebounding leaderboard. Here are five athletes from the Class of 2025 who averaged at least seven rebounds per game, but did not finish among the top 10 rebounders in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='766799' first='Kyplee' last='Jacobson'], 5'10”, F, Mission Valley, ‘25

Jacobson is a spunky three-sport prospect. She plays basketball, volleyball, and softball for the Vikings. She averaged 7.7 boards and scored 7.2 points per game. Her rebound numbers were down from a season ago, but she has averaged 7-plus points in all three high school seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='959946' first='Lana' last='Smittick'], 5'10”, F, Cornerstone Family, ‘25

In 22 games Smittick averaged 7.6 rebounds for the Cornerstone Family Saints, a home-schooled team in Topeka. She is a strong inside player and a solid defender. On the defensive end, she finished with 2.3 blocks and 1.5 steals per contest. Smittick has averaged close to five points per game in both her sophomore and junior seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='349427' first='Reese' last='Messer'], 5'11”, CG, St. James Academy, ‘25

Messer has already committed to play volleyball for USC as a setter, but she is also an accomplished basketball player. She averaged 7.5 rebounds during her junior season and is the top scorer in this group. She scored 20.9 points per game for the Thunder. Her vertical skills and long reach is what makes her a solid rebounder.

Janessa Franklin, 6'2”, C, Wichita Southeast, ‘25

The Golden Buffalo prospect can clean the boards and impact opponents' shot selection. She recorded a rebound average of 7.3 per game and fell just short of averaging three blocked shots per contest. She is not a huge scoring threat, but she could add some dangerous depth to NAIA teams looking for a post defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='1098894' first='Abby' last='Theiss'], 6'0”, F, Christ Prep Academy, ‘25

Theiss is an under-the-radar prospect from Christ Prep Academy. She finished her junior season with the Patriots averaging 7.3 rebound, 9.9 points, and 3.7 blocks per game. She shot 67 percent from the free throw line last season and a solid 44 percent from the field.
