Dycus: Co MVPs –
Molly Masingale Molly Masingale 5'9" | SF McMinn Co. | 2024 State TN ‘24 and Karina Bystry Karina Bystry 5'10" | PG McMinn Central | 2025 State TN ‘25 – Molly Masingale Molly Masingale 5'9" | SF McMinn Co. | 2024 State TN , ‘24 Wofford commit, is as skilled and diverse a scorer as they come. She’s money from three, her middy going left is unstoppable, she’s lethal in transition, she can post up smaller defenders, and is an elite finisher around the rim. I have ZERO doubt she could average 27-30 a game if she tried, but McMinn Central has multiple high level scorers, and she’s more concerned with a state championship than numbers.
Dycus’ Honorable Mention: Braxton Fritz Braxton Fritz 5'7" | SG Kingston | 2024 State TN , ’24, Kingston
Meade:
At this point, there is no round table with this to be had. I agree 110%! I loved watching Molly and Karina on the court together!
- Region Most Improved
Dycus: Alexis Kranz, ‘25, Meigs – The junior guard turned heads this season with her play, helping guide Meigs back to another 20 win season.
Meade:
Kinsley Diggs, Kingston HS- The junior had an impressive season! Kinsley has improved all aspects of her game. If she continues to work, she is going to have a great senior season!
- Region Freshman of the Year
Dycus: Lilly Woodruff Lilly Woodruff 5'8" | SG Sweetwater | 2027 State TN , Sweetwater – The 5’10 “do it all freshman” opened up a lot of eyes this season. Woodruff averaged 17 and 10, and had to do so while every defensive geared up to stop her. I keep saying it–you put Lilly Woodruff Lilly Woodruff 5'8" | SG Sweetwater | 2027 State TN on just about any other team in the state, and all of a sudden the she’s a TN household name.
Meade:
Delilah Reed, Tellico Plains- This guard is quick, smart, and extremely fun to watch! I made a statement during the season that went like this, “Reed is added to my All-Freshman Team! I hope no one else is late to the Reed party.” I felt like I was extremely late watching her for the first time near the end of her freshman season! If this one continues to work, don’t take your eyes off her! She can shoot, she is automatic in the lane, and she is just getting started!
- Region Players to Watch Next Season
Dycus’ List:
Karina Bystry Karina Bystry 5'10" | PG McMinn Central | 2025 State TN , McMinn Central – Man, I cannot wait to watch Bystry next year. Bystry and Masingale’s scoring numbers are artificially deflated some b/c 1) they generally only play 3 quarters, and 2) they gotta share shots. Next season, Central will look much different, but Bystry shooting 8 threes a game will look familiar.
Jonna Moses Jonna Moses 5'6" | CG Tellico Plains | 2026 State TN , Tellico – The sophomore played a key role for Tellico Plains, who increased their win total up to 17 games this year. Moses has a nice handle, and is a confident playmaker and score. As Tellico is graduating a few key players, I look for Moses to jump onto the scene in a big way.
Ainsley King Ainsley King 5'10" | SF Meigs Co. | 2026 State TN , Meigs – 5’11 Stretch post that can get hot from 3, battles on the glass, and can handle the rock. Skill level is extremely high for a ‘26.
Malea Masingale Malea Masingale 5'10" | SF McMinn Central | 2027 State TN , ‘27, McMcinn Central – Molly’s freshman little sister. Has earned important minutes this year….and trust me…she can SHOOT THE ROCK. With multiple seniors graduating, she’ll be asked to step up in a major way.
Meade:
Mackenzie Raymer, Roane County HS, – The first time I watched Roane County live this season, I was left impressed by the play of Mackenzie! I couldn’t believe that Raymer was a freshman! I cross checked every resource because she does not play like a freshman at all. She has great size! She stays calm and poised. She does a lot of the little things that will never show on a stat sheet! She’s a special talent!
- Region’s Most Fun Team to Watch –
Dycus: McMinn Central – Not a lot of fun here when they are beating people by 60 points, but, they are loaded with D1 level scorers, 2 of the best track and field athletes in the state, etc. They run the run and jump press about as well as it can be run, and they have the offensive firepower to make your pay for turnovers in a hurry. I watched them play classics this year versus Bradley Central, Gatlinburg-Pittman, etc. They didn’t hide from anyone in their non-conference schedule.
Meade:There is no denying that McMinn Central was the ultimate team! Yes, they fell short at states this year, but throughout the season I watched this team and didn’t report on them. I simply enjoyed and LOVED watching the athletes buy in to watch their coaches asked of them and perform at the highest level!
