This past weekend marked the annual Prime Event Midwest put on by Select Events at the Pacers Athletic Center. It has become one of the premier non-live Spring events in the Midwest over the past few years. My availability allowed me just a few hours on Sunday, but in my time in Westfield and Lebanon, I was able to see several players perform well. I was also hunting some teams I haven’t seen or seen much of thus far this Spring. Below is a look at eight members of the 2026 and 2027 classes who I felt were worth a mention based on what I saw.
.
Gracyn was already bigger/stronger than most of her peers as a Freshman, but this Spring she looks like a Senior. She is strong, athletic, but she also has some length and quickness to her. She is built like many athletic power forwards, but believe me, she has touch from the perimeter, ball skill to get by a defender and change directions, and she has really good vision for a player her age. What’s scary to me is, I don’t think she has even come close to how strong she can get. At some point, defenders will start bouncing off of her, and she’ll be able to finish more consistently at the rim, while also being able to “sit down” and defend true point guards.

If there is one thing you’ll always notice with regard to Violet’s game, it’s that she is extremely active. She is an excellent pursuing rebounder who always comes up with caroms outside of her area. She has nice length, fluid athleticism, and she even plays with some bounce. She has worked on her face-up game and has great touch in the mid-post, plus if given time can even knock down an open rhythm 3-pointer. She is all energy & effort, and I can see a number of the better Midwestern small colleges having interest in her game over the next couple of years.

Miley just continues to put together consistent effort after consistent effort. Even though I wasn’t there Saturday, I heard she had an injury scare, but she was back on the court Sunday morning using her size, strength, and physicality, as usual. For lack of a better term, she is just a bully inside, carving out space, and creating scoring opportunities around the rim. Defensively, she likes to root out opponents and turn them into face-up players. She had a strong Winter and has carried that over into the Spring. She already has a lot of Crossroads League interest/offers.

This is kind of a reiteration of something I mentioned about a month ago, but I have been as impressed with Brooke as anyone with regards to her urgency and attention to detail at the defensive end of the floor this Spring. She has always been a talented shooter and an effective scorer, but her activity defensively has stood out. Offensively, I would be curious to watch her in an environment where she can play more of a point guard role, because if she can prove to handle pressure as a primary ball-handler and facilitate for others, it could really boost her recruiting.

I had seen a little of Lilly on film throughout the Winter, but this was my first time watching her in-person. She is extremely long and wiry, but she could definitely benefit from added strength. Some of that will come naturally as she finishes growing, but the quicker she can get there, the lower and more consistently she can play. What I do like is that she’s very active, she’s willing to be physical, and she has good skill facing the basket. I’m not convinced she’s a pure wing yet, more of a combo forward, but she flashes that potential. For now, she’s great in the mid-post, and she can defend forwards and bigger wings.

Kierstyn has really shined throughout the Spring for her grassroots team, and she could be working her way into some quality minutes for the Bulldogs next season. She is a tough-nosed, hard-working, versatile guard prospect. She is best described as a combo guard, because she is still growing as a point guard, but she is also a solid scoring option on the wing. She has a wiry strength to her frame, and she’s a solid all-around athlete. Like many past Brownsburg guards, she will continue to get stronger and play with toughness, while also using her versatile skill to affect games in multiple ways.

Casey wasn’t really on my radar until I saw her grassroots team play, but now I’m very interested in watching her continue to grow her game over the next three years. She is extremely long, fluidly athletic, and somewhat bouncy. She was really good in the mid-post, she would pursue rebounds, attack the basket off the dribble, and she looked to be able to knock down the 15-footer. As she finishes growing, look for her to get stronger and become a more consistent contributor. I think she fits how Danville likes to play, and she could work her way into some valuable minutes in 2024-2025.
Ashley is another prospect I saw in-person for the first time last weekend. She has a long frame, a wiry strength, and she’s a solid all-around athlete. I really liked her activity in the mid-post, whether she was knocking down the occasional jumper or attacking the basket, pursuing a rebound, or defending her opponent’s forward. She is physical enough to battle some on the interior, but the combination of her mobility and her skill likely project her as a face-up ‘4’, whether that be in the mid-post or eventually full-time around the perimeter.
