MBCA Classic- Notes from Pikesville vs. River Hill

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The River Hill Hawks of Howard County put together a strong performance a young Pikesville team and came away with a solid 13-point win. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='565856' first='Dylan' last='Watson'], River Hill, 2025, Guard/Wing</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dylan was clearly the best player in the game, and she was responsible for swinging the outcome into her team's favor. She has grown a bit and is now about 6'1" and very long. She used her length to rebound effectively and when she didn't get the rebound, she was able to tip a number of balls to her teammates. She has a killer first step and a long stride so it's very difficult to contain her. She is a slasher by nature and is finishing better at the rim. I like the fact that she is improving her range and knocking down perimeter shots. She has always been known for her defense as she can really lock up with her long arms, excellent footwork and speed. She finished the game with 23 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='620750' first='Gabby' last='Shane'], River Hill, 2026, Guard</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gabby is a 5'5" guard that makes winning plays all over the court. She's a high IQ player and has a great feel for the game and where to be at all times. She's methodical and makes solid decisions on both ends of the court. She's a good passer and very helpful in breaking the press. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='569087' first='Mariah' last='Jones-Bey'], Pikesville, 2026, Point Guard</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mariah continues to develop into a strong college prospect. Physically she has a lot of the necessary tools and skills. She has range out to the three-point line on her shot and she can explode past defenders and finish at the basket. I'd like to see her develop her mid-range game and play off two feet more, but she still has time. On defense she was excellent, showing good footwork and quick hands. She is looking more comfortable running the offense and generally makes good decisions. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>KN'nai Pyatt, Pikesville, 2027, Guard </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fearless guard that doesn't shy away from taking big shots. Decent size at 5'7" but she plays bigger. She has range past the three-point line and does some work in the mid-range. She's strong enough to finish in the paint against bigger players and has a nice two-foot pro-hop she uses. She should take a big jump next season and will have a bigger role going forward. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
