The 16U division at the Battle in the Sunflower attracted ten teams from five states. A long list of players caught my eye but below are eight who especially had a good opening day.

Myah Abeyta, 5'4", PG, P.L.U.T.O. Prospects 2026, Pueblo East (CO), 2026 - Abeyta is a quick guard who beat some guards so consistently and soundly opposing coaches immediately tried someone else. Very good handles and decision making were a problem for opponents. She blocked out very well on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1050421' first='Kylie' last='Adair'], SG, Western [program_tooltip program_id='715643' first='Kansas' last='Elite'] 2026, Alva (OK), 2026 - Adair showed herself to be a diverse talent who can score in a variety of ways. Defensively she used her length to stay on the floor to challenge drivers and even generate shot blocks.

Jaicee Carresquillo, 5'5", PG, Missouri Flight 2026, Verona (MO), 2026 - Carresquillo's leadership and presence on the floor was impactful. A high IQ point, she shot the ball with range and worked against half- and full-court pressure with poise.

[player_tooltip player_id='880997' first='Kimmy' last='Combs'], 5'10", SF, 365 Elite, Neodesha (KS), 2026 - Combs was a strong and physical force on both ends of the floor. When she got in a grove shooting threes with range it caused massive lanes for her to drive and score or to find teammates. Off the dribble Combs showed good interior vision to get the assist.

[player_tooltip player_id='634243' first='Arika' last='Feldman'], 6'1", SF/PF, Lady PGUHoops 2026, Little River (KS), 2026 - Feldman was very active running the floor and working in the half court. She caught and scored quickly and scored well at all three levels. Feldman defended opposing bigs and used her length well to poke and tip away entry passes.

Khloe Jones, 5'4", PG, SWMO Storm 2026, Willard (MO), 2027 - Jones played a physical game on both ends of the floor. With the ball she attacked defenders playing tight, especially those trying to body up. She showed good speed and quickness, handles to use whirls and other moves well, and good mid-range shooting off the pull-up. Jones also finished well through contact.

[player_tooltip player_id='544984' first='Avery' last='McCorry'], 5'10", SF, Next Level 2026, Bishop Carroll (KS), 2026 - McCorry showed great footwork on both ends of the floor, quick hands and good length. Fast with the ball, she also showed strong passing ability. One terrific pass came from a side out-of-bounds play. She lobbed a ball to the opposite block where a teammate quickly caught and scored it.

Madden Wilson, 5'6", PG, Team Iowa 2026 Bluestar, Xavier (IA), 2026 - Wilson was the top player defending opposing point guards. She showed an ability to create off the dribble and jumped well to rebound the ball.
