With summer club ball season coming to a close I thought I would share some updates on a pile of returning 2A all-staters. I mined the 2024 all-state teams released by KBCA, KSHSAACovered and Sports In Kansas.

[player_tooltip player_id='779208' first='Zoey' last='Buckner-Franklin'], 5'3", PG, 2027 - Franklin has been playing with MoKan 15U Girls Elite this summer. My only viewing of her was in Wichita a few weeks ago. The floor leader for 2A state champions The Independent School, Franklin was the 2A Player of the Year. Shifty with strong handles what really stands out is her vision, poise when defended tightly or is trapped and her vision. Her athleticism and coordination stand out on finishes but is especially notable with her passing. While not expected to return to Independent I include her because this article focuses 2024 season all-state players. She has been offered by Wichita State University.

[player_tooltip player_id='544025' first='Brenna' last='Rucker'], 5'10", CG, Eureka, 2026 - Missouri Phenom 16U. KBCA and Sports In Kansas first team, KSHSAA second team. My only viewing of Rucker was in Wichita a few weeks ago. Rucker continued to show serious shooting ability and high level floor smarts. Her build and use of it was a major problem on both ends of the floor for opponents. She was especially strong using her hips and legs to gain the upper hand positionally. She holds an offer from Wichita State University.

[player_tooltip player_id='544027' first='Avery' last='Scott'], 6'1". PF, Stanton County, 2026 - The returning Sports In Kansas first team and KBCA and KSHSAA second team selection is without question the top returning big in 2A and it is not even close. While Scott has been traveling with CyFair Elite 16U EYBL and has not played in Kansas or at an event where a Prep Girls Hoops scout has seen her I have seen a fair amount of video showing her diverse skill set. A very physical player on both ends with great size Scott uses her body well to create space inside to score, to wall up and to block shots. Her drop stepping ability while showing the ball the other way is very strong. Her transition speed is very good and she has turned herself into a three point threat.

[player_tooltip player_id='719106' first='Cammi' last='Unruh'], 5'5", PG, Moundridge, 2026 - Unruh picked up 2024 KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas second team as well as KBCA third team honors. Unruh had a big 2024 season. Fighting in a sub-state that sent a very strong Hillsboro team to state, Unruh has been busy building a game to lead her team down that path. Only a couple of weeks ago at PGH's Battle in the Sunflower event she showed a high motor and physicality on both ends. An active defender with good length and speed she generates steals like a squirrel gathering nuts before winter. A very effective denier in in-bounds play situations, if she snags the ball she gets down the floor with speed. Unruh also finishes fairly well through contact.

[player_tooltip player_id='621264' first='Madelyn' last='Wilson'], 6'2", C, Chase County, 2026 - I had a short window to catch Wilson and her Kansas Triple Threat teammates at the MAYB Summer Kickoff in Wichita. I had not watched her game in person in more than a year. In that brief period she caused fits for opponents because they could not match up physically trying to defend her nor could they score easily if she was involved in a play. I liked her hustle and ability to change ends well. She has legitimate size, strength and length that area D II schools should be noticing. Rolling into the brutal Hillsboro sub-state last season with only five losses the Bulldogs were abruptly dispatched by Inman in the first round. Watch for Wilson to lead her teammates deeper into the post-season next season. She picked up KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas third team after making a couple all-state teams as a freshman.
