With the summer season coming to a close it's time to take a look at some of the players from different classes who put themselves into a different category with improved play and exposure. I am starting with the class of 2026.

Starr is a talented guard with some versatility in her game. She has deep range on her shot and is a crafty finisher in the paint. She plays with an edge and is an intense competitor. I think she has a chance to be in the running for Anne Arundel County player of the year after a strong showing on the Puma circuit.

Iyanna Bell, [program_tooltip program_id='750645' first='Team' last='Melo'], Western, 2026 Forward

Iyanna was a rebounding machine during the Nike sessions and most of the summer. She used all of her length and athleticism to control the boards on both ends and showed a nice touch around the basket. At six feet tall she has the build and if she continues to work she could break this high school season. Looking forward to seeing her fall performances.

[player_tooltip player_id='569087' first='Mariah' last='Jones-Bey'], [program_tooltip program_id='750645' first='Team' last='Melo'], Pikesville, 2026 Guard

Mariah had a solid summer. She got plenty of run and had the ball in her hands a lot. She wasn't on the most competitive team, but she got a chance to hone her decision-making skills and other areas of her game like on-ball and team defense. She is a capable scorer from two levels so it would be good to see her add some mid-range moves to her package in the fall.

Skyla Mastonardi, Team Thrill, Smithsburg, 2026, Guard

Athletic and crafty combo guard out of Western Maryland that locked in some D1 offers with her work over the summer. She looked comfortable playing off the ball and running the point. She's an exceptional athlete and has good size at 5'10". She has a high motor, moves well without the ball and stays ready to catch and shoot.

Mone't Edwards, Fairfax Stars, St. Frances, 2026, Guard

Another guard with a college ready body that picked up some D1 offers. Mone't expanded her game and looked good facilitating the offense, but also knowing when to go for hers. She's a capable scorer from all three levels and competes at a high level on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='620771' first='Chloe' last='Grenway'], GLP, Oakland Mills, 2026, Guard

Chloe had some explosive shooting games over the summer with multiple outbursts of 4 or more three-pointers. She is deadly in catch and shoot situations and can also knock down shots off the bounce in transition. She put herself on the radar of several D2 coaches and should garner more interest throughout the fall.
