Last week we brought you a sneak peak at some quality 2029s we saw at the Mill City Invitational, some of whom might just make their mark this winter as 8th graders in high school basketball. That group included [player_tooltip player_id='939000' first='Kiera' last='Willis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='907398' first='Tayja' last='Chatman'] of [program_tooltip program_id='715704' first='Team' last='FSA'], [player_tooltip player_id='939003' first='Isabella' last='Deleeuw'] of [program_tooltip program_id='714566' first='Minnesota' last='Stars'] Hinze, Tate Huppert of [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] Yellow, [player_tooltip player_id='939001' first='Gabby' last='McCarney'] of Crossfire Corley and [player_tooltip player_id='939004' first='Alysen' last='Purcell'] of Fury 2029 Blue. As is often the case, we couldn't quite fit all of the prospects we wanted to include into that article. That's why we're revisiting the subject with a few more names of note.

Although the Class of 2029 hasn't been our focus yet, we have covered a number of 7th graders over the course of the AAU season. Back in April we profiled several other 2029s whose teams also happened to participate last week at Mill City, including, [player_tooltip player_id='888742' first='Mali' last='Quam'] and [player_tooltip player_id='888690' first='Caliegh' last='Barrone'] of Southern [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] and [player_tooltip player_id='888689' first='Ella' last='Wielenga'] of [program_tooltip program_id='728724' first='Minnesota' last='Aces']. Here are a few more you might want to check out.

[player_tooltip player_id='1244229' first='Lucy' last='Hilgert'] — forward, [program_tooltip program_id='712697' first='MN' last='Crossfire'] 2029 Corley

The Crossfire forward left a strong impression on us at the Mill City Invitational after her performance on Sunday afternoon. With a very sturdy and muscular build, a big motor, and a ton of strength it's clear that Lucy is going to be a high-level athlete. We loved her aggressive, scrappy style of play. Hilgert fights for every loose ball and rebound, and she has a real knack for grabbing boards. The Chanhassen 7th grader, who also plays lacrosse, led all scorers in 2029 Blue Division, scoring 50 points across four games, including an 18-point performance against Stars Zabel/Post. With how productive she is already, there is no telling how good Hilgert will be once she masters the fundamentals of the game.

Adriana Krueger — guard, [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] 2029 Yellow

The Fury guard impressed us last weekend in Chanhassen, putting up a team-high 9 points against Stars Hinze. Krueger demonstrated her ability to score at multiple levels, both attacking the basket and hitting shots from beyond the arc. She stands at 5'6, has good length, and is very agile on the floor. Like most incoming 8th graders, the Shakopee prospect's game isn't very refined yet, but Adri has great instincts on the court and her skills are improving all the time. At Mill City, we also liked her defensive intensity, ability to feed the ball to her teammates, and positive attitude on the court. This is a player to keep an eye on in the coming years.

[player_tooltip player_id='941745' first='Nevaeh' last='Grosse'] — guard, [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] 2029 Blue

The Fury guard has put together an impressive run in the 2024 AAU season, playing a key role for a really strong 2029 Blue team. Standing at 5'7, Nevaeh has good size for a guard, as well as a substantial amount of length. She's super mobile, and her quick feet and lateral movement are impressive. Her game is fundamentally sound and she plays with a ton of finesse. Grosse is well-known as a knockdown three-point shooter, but she can also attack the rim and rack up points there. Nevaeh appeared in a handful of varsity games at Eastview this past winter, and after a strong AAU campaign and countless hours in the gym this summer, it would not surprise us if that role increases this season. Nevaeh has a chance to be one of the top prospects in the Class of 2029.

A 2030 NAME YOU SHOULD KNOW

One more name you need to know is Reese Goranson of Proctor. She's actually an incoming 7th grader – hard for an old guy like me to even fathom that we're looking at 2030s already – playing on the [program_tooltip program_id='713214' first='Minnesota' last='Starks'] 12U squad. Coached last weekend by St. Scholastica's Jason Schmitz, the Duluth-based unit competed in the 2029 Green Division, going 3-1 against the older kids.

Reese handles the ball like a guard, has solid ability on the perimeter and can make three-point shots as needed. She averaged 9 points per game at Mill City, which was top 5 in the division. Goranson is already 5'10 with a long, thin frame – think St. Thomas commit [player_tooltip player_id='346166' first='Autumn' last='McCall'] from the Class of 2025 for comparison, or perhaps 2026 standout [player_tooltip player_id='344333' first='Cail' last='Jahnke']. We're not saying Goranson is going to match Jahnke's high-major status – she's being recruited by the likes of Michigan, Nebraska, Minnesota and so forth – but once Reese grows into her body, you never know. Just keep her in mind when we get serious about scouting the Class of 2030.

PGH scout Ally McGinnis contributed to these evaluations.
