The final grassroots tournament of the season that I was able to attend was The National Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. The Kentucky Exposition Center was filled with talent on 50 courts all under one roof. Here's a look at a few players in the class of 2027 who performed well.

Minnick had a fantastic AAU season, and the National Championship was no different. She demonstrated great passing abilities and made a few shots behind the arc. In a close game, she heightened her defensive intensity and secured a crucial tie-up when her team was trailing by one. Her determined expression clearly showed that she meant business! I anticipate a remarkable sophomore season for Anna.

Reid had an impressive summer in AAU, and she may have saved the best for last at The National Championship. She was scoring easily at the hoop with a variety of finishes, including an impressive Rondo. The lefty has a sweet stroke from the outside and connected on many 3-pointers.

Brink is a long, athletic guard who can score at all three levels. However, what impressed me the most during the National Championship was her defensive ability. She utilizes her length and athleticism to block many shots, anticipates well, and secures numerous steals and deflections. Leah will be a sophomore to watch this season.

Roberson had a fantastic summer playing basketball, and her strong performance continued at The National Championship in Louisville. She excels as a post player, working hard on both ends of the floor. Roberson has soft hands and is able to catch everything that comes her way. She also demonstrates excellent court vision by reading the defense and making effective passes to open shooters when she draws double and triple teams. I'm excited to watch Leigha and her Portland team in her sophomore season.

Black had a fantastic summer in AAU and performed well at the National Championship. She is a hustler that any coach would love to have on their team. She has exceptional ball-handling skills and can handle any pressure that comes her way. She also rebounds at a high rate from her guard position. Sydney should have a great sophomore season for East Lansing.

Hutson had an impressive summer of AAU basketball and The National Championship was no exception. Sydney drives the lane with authority and can finish through traffic. She effectively finishes off two and gets to the free-throw line often. She works hard on the glass and secured many offensive rebounds to give her team extra scoring opportunities. Look for a big sophomore season for Sydney at East Lansing.
