Located a few minutes north of Charlotte in Iredell County is the town of Mooresville. The Talbert Recreation Center is located in the Charlotte suburb and it was where a number of the region's premier girls basketball players convened this past weekend.

Carolina Girls Hoops Report hosted its annual Da Future Showcase in Mooresville and talents from several states were represented. As one can guess, both Carolinas had a presence as well as the nearby states of Georgia and Virginia.

We at Prep Girls Hoops also made the trip to be part of the weekend's festivities. Here is a look at who caught our attention from the sophomore class.

Cunningham's transfer from Northwestern to South Pointe prior to the 2023-24 season was a huge reason why the Stallions were firmly in the 4A state conversation throughout last season. She averaged 17.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals in the 28 games she played last season sporting South Pointe red. While known for being one of the most formidable frontcourt forces in the Palmetto State, she also showcased her ball handling capabilities more commonly seen in guards. Division I-level talent will lead to Division I offers. Ask Boston College and Coastal Carolina who extended offers in her direction throughout last season.

The girls' basketball program at Cannon has experienced a litany of winning ways over the past several years. Love showed signs this past weekend at Da Future that she is primed to take that next step in her career which will work wonders for the Cougars in continuing its winning era. Defensively, she is a consistent threat to pry the ball away from opposing ball carriers to create additional possessions for her team. If she has a lane to the rim, Love is likely to go into attack mode which will result in strong finishes at the basket. She also displays versatility with a willingness to play at either of the backcourt guard spots or in the frontcourt as a three.

Williams may have had, arguably, the most impressive performance of any 2027 this past weekend in Mooresville. She is entering her sophomore season after putting up impressive numbers in her freshman campaign at Legion Collegiate. Williams averaged a robust 16.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.9 steals as a freshman for the Lancers. Her fearlessness in attacking the basket is one of the many attributes she possesses that makes Williams so dangerous. As those statistics display, she excels on both ends of the floor. When one is a [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] product, that is a sign they are among the best of the best in the Palmetto State.

The Storm of 3A Stuart Cramer brought a strong contingency to the Talbert Recreation Center this past weekend. Humphrey stands at a towering 6-foot-2 and that is a height advantage that comes in useful when looking to do work on the boards. She was part of a Storm rendition that last season finished with a 24-6 record and 13-1 in their Big South 3A conference. While Humphrey averaged 9.2 rebounds last season in her freshman campaign for Stuart Cramer, she particularly impressed with her ball handling and rim attacking skills. Humphrey has the height of a four or five but displayed at Da Future that her skillset also includes guard skills.

Barner is coming off a spring and summer where she spent her time running on the travel circuit with Hornets United. Barner displayed this past weekend in Mooresville that she is ready to build on her freshman season last year at 4A Myers Park. She played in 30 games last season with the Mustangs and she averaged 9.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals. Barner showcased her ability to put points on the board from all three levels. She is a challenge to game plan for on both ends of the floor. Barner was part of a 2023-24 Myers Park assembling that concluded last season with a 27-3 record and a berth in the 4A West Region semifinals.
