The end of July marks the overall end to summer club season. From a Missouri Phenom Hoopfest to MAYB and Prep Girls Hoops events to club tryouts to the I-35 Shootout I saw a ton of players at a variety of class levels over the past few months. With the summer ball's end I get to take a breath and select summer ball teams drawn from only who I have seen. To kick things off is part one of my all-Kansas 2025 team, point and shooting guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='350246' first='Molly' last='Martin'], 5'7". Hays - Martin showed herself to be a dangerous, hard-working presence on both ends of the floor. Athletic, quick and speedy she shot the three ball effectively in a variety of situations and with little wasted movement. Martin also made quick, catchable passes. Whether in transition or off the bounce she got to the hole quickly.

[player_tooltip player_id='616737' first='Logan' last='Nolan'], 5'4", Colby - Nolan was among the best 'floor-leader' type point guards I saw. Very quick with strong handles, she created well for others and took scoring opportunities as they came. She showed smarts and resilience using her quickness to challenge drives and turn turnovers into transition hoops.

[player_tooltip player_id='539005' first='Saliyah' last='Henderson-Johnson'], 5'7", Arkansas City - Athletic with quick hops and a strong first step Henderson-Johnson showed herself to be especially effective at creating three point play opportunities off drives. Working at the top of full-court pressure schemes she showed strong disruptive capabilities. An especially strong scoring point guard.

Shooting Guards

[player_tooltip player_id='456516' first='Alisabeth' last='Barton'], 5'6", SG, Colby - Barton is a credible perimeter shooter off the catch who scores it well at all three levels. Very heady in half court and transition play she sets herself up well to turn catches into scores with quickness, elevation and extension.

[player_tooltip player_id='349457' first='Oen' last='Deters'], 5'6", PG, Centralia - While Deters generally is seen running the show I project her to more likely play a shooting guard role at the collegiate level. She is among the most dangerous and composed perimeter shooters regardless of class and not running the point will free her up to fill it up. Deters shot it well in a variety of situations and did so with range. She also consistently demonstrated strong vision in full- and half-court scenarios and an ability to create her own shot. A tough, resilient, very willing and smart defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='335953' first='SaMiyah' last='Ellis'], 5'9", PG, Wichita Heights - Working on the perimeter Ellis showed herself to be very strong at setting defenders up to be driven on. On the attack she scored well with elevation and athleticism even when well defended. While she commonly plays the point, at the next level her perimeter shooting with range could encourage her being played at the two spot.
