With the summer club ball season wrapping up at the end of July I am digging into my notes to present my all-summer ball teams. Drawing from only a pool of players I saw in person I have started off with the incoming senior class. Below is part two of my all-Kansas 2025 team. It covers combo guards/small forwards and centers/power forwards. Be sure to review part one which covers point and shooting guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='616733' first='Lindsay' last='Dill'], 5'10", SF, Blue Valley Southwest - Dill caught my eye with her combination of solid build, good north-south speed and smooth flow on her three point shot.

[player_tooltip player_id='456532' first='Halle' last='Jones'], 5'5", PG/SG, Holcomb - There is one word other Prep Girls Hoops scouts and I would probably agree on when describing Jones' game, versatile. I saw her play and defend multiple positions. She has a very strong offensive skill set grounded in footwork and feel for the game. She finds gaps in defenses to attack, finishes and works well off the ball setting up teammates with screens. Defensively, one trip down she could be found on the bottom of 1-2-2 zones and the next trip work at the top of a 2-3 zone. One the glass or on the floor after loose balls, she just flat competes on both ends of the floor. Just a well rounded basketball player who is fun to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='456513' first='Gabrielle' last='McFall'], 5'11", CG, Blue Valley Northwest - McFall is a lengthy playmaking guard who handles well at speed. I really liked how she created transition opportunities for herself and her teammates both in transition and when working in space in the half court. McFall showed a very quick trigger off the catch and jump shooting ability. Defensively, what grabbed me was her ability to give ground or slide with ball handlers, enabling her to challenge and block shots without fouling.

[player_tooltip player_id='936759' first='Yeva' last='Semeniuk'], 6'2", SF, Life Prep - I saw Semeniuk play few times. And my view of her game matches that of my Oklahoma colleague Johnny Vick's. A versatile forward that can play the 3-5 positions, runs the floor and fills transition lanes well ready to catch and shoots her jumper smoothly and with range. A terrific passer out of the post she also is an effective offensive rebounder who boxes out well. A smart defender as well, Semeniuk rotates well within defensive schemes to switch defenders and gather shot blocks from the weak side.

[player_tooltip player_id='335932' first='Marilyn' last='Soeken'], 5'7", PG, Central Plains - Soeken is commonly found running the point with her high school and club teams but has the complete skill set to play anywhere on the perimeter. That versatility leads me to feel she will most likely work on the wings to take advantage of her solid build and scoring abilities at all three levels. She has enough size and strength to defend on the wing as well. Soeken is a pure dog of a basketball player. Loves the game, is very coachable and is always looking for ways to improve, and never takes a play off.

[player_tooltip player_id='766798' first='Kallynn' last='Stroup'], 5'8", SF, Prairie View - Stroup is a strong player with a high ceiling that can play inside and on the wing effectively. She has a physical game and is effective in the high post area. I love how spreads out to lock in her position, calls for the ball where she wants to catch it and goes to work applying power to the forward position. Her quality footwork extends to the defensive end as well. Stroup is an effective help size defender. As she masters anticipating, bumping and denying cutter action she is likely to turn into one of the top interior defenders in 3A.

Power Forwards/Centers

[player_tooltip player_id='872337' first='Layla' last='Barnes'], 6'2", C, Blue Valley - Barnes is a player to watch how far and fast she moves the needle. A quickly developing center with good size, quickness, athleticism and hops. I expect the physicality of the summer game will find her applying her own brand of wood-laying when high school ball rolls around. She could be one of the top rebounding and shot-blocking bigs not just in the Eastern Kansas League but in class 6A.

[player_tooltip player_id='456530' first='Amaree' last='Henderson'], 5'10", PF, Newton - Henderson might just be the best power forward in the state, regardless of class, that nobody knows about. Ask anybody who matched up with her on either end, she is a talent. And I will tell you right now. There are players with D I and II interest and offers who are not her equal nor do they have the upside Henderson has. A three level pure scorer with a great build, Henderson uses her hops; athleticism; transition speed; and especially her footwork very well. And she will go after you on both ends of the floor. Without question she is one of the top five power forwards in 5A.

[player_tooltip player_id='539006' first='Lydia' last='Reed'], 6'3", PF, St. John-Hudson - Reed has had a HUGE summer. While she is a little light of frame for her height Reed is one of only a few post players in the state who are equally effective going both ways working inside. And that is in both her face-up and back-to-basket games. Long, quick, fast and unselfish Reed has great hands and is a capable rebounder. Her physicality has grown immensely in the past year plus. Her work has turned her into a legitimate D 2 prospect after being off most people's radar until this summer. Easily the top big in 1A.
