Holding onto the #1 ranking in this Update is someone that needs no introduction if you have been following along with high school ball throughout the state of Nebraska the past couple of years. It is the one and only, [player_tooltip player_id='315778' first='Neleigh' last='Gessert'] of Millard West High School. Gessert has held onto this #1 spot out of her Class, ever since I've been around and it's because of her present skill-set, mixed with her future possibilities at the next level. Gessert has been an instrumental piece in her team's success, no matter who she is competing with or around. As of most recent, Neleigh hit a big shot to help her 17U ETG Midwest [program_tooltip program_id='713325' first='Elite' last=''] 3SSB team secure the Adidas National Title for their age group. Don't get me wrong, it's a team effort and no game comes down to a single play but this just demonstrates that she can play in high octane competition and still show out as one of the best. This Winter with the Wildcats, they are going to attempt the repeat of back-to-back State Titles. If they play their cards right, they will have a good shot at it but it all relies on their players and coaching strategy, so we will just have to see.

Coming in at the #2 spot and moreso holding onto the #2 spot once again is PG, [player_tooltip player_id='315777' first='Norah' last='Gessert']. Gessert gets this spot over others because of her ability to make everyone else around her better at the PG position. She is skilled and awfully talented in her own right but her play on the court speaks volumes, more than anything else. When she is out there, she is always looking out for her teammates around her, trying to make the situation as efficient as possible. That's a skill that I think she does a great job with now and it will also translate to the court with the Bluejays in the near future.

[player_tooltip player_id='276516' first='Molly' last='Ladwig'] of Omaha - Skutt Catholic recently ended her college search with her commitment to The University of Buffalo, following her high school career. Ladwig is a high energy CG, that can play the PG or SG position, while always yielding positive results. She has a natural scoring ability that is second-to-none throughout the state of Nebraska and that has always been on full display, ever since she was a Freshman at the Varsity level. Since then, her progression and expansion of her play-style has been noteworthy and noticed all across the country. This helped her receive several collegiate offers before her commitment but in the end, she decided with Buffalo. As for this upcoming Winter season, I expect more of the same out of Ladwig. Her group returns a lot of production from years past and she will be their lead in charge. So however far she can take them, that's how far they will go in the end. Which, that's just the reality of the situation. They have some other awesome prospects but Ladwig competes at an entirely different level than most her age.

[player_tooltip player_id='766565' first='Myleigh' last='Weers'] is the definition of a ferocious PG, that plays with a chip on her shoulder. Weers comes in at 5'9, she isn't afraid of physicality, she has a smooth handle, she can handle any form of pressure, and she is very tough to stop in 1v1 matchups in both the half and full-courts. When Weers came to our PGH Nebraska Top 250 Showcase last Fall, she was a standout at her position. There wasn't anyone else I would have taken in the gym that day to be my PG if I was doing a draft and since then, she has committed to compete at D2 - UNK following her Senior season at Diller-Odell High School. This is an important commitment for UNK, as Weers is a star. She will be able to lead that program, almost right away if she is given a chance. I'm not sure if that will be the case for her Freshman season but we are still a year+ away from that so as of right now, I'm sure she is just focused on the upcoming season ahead.

Moving into our #5 spot for the first time this year is 6'0 CG - Addie Sullivan. Sullivan moves into this spot for a couple of reasons, the biggest being her resumé at this time. Sullivan is also a UNK commit and a very good one at that. Her ability to stretch the floor, knock down shots off the catch from deep, and post up against most others is eye-opening. In her personal matchups, she never seems to be outmatched, no matter what she is attempting to do and that being mixed with her height, overall skill-set, and knowledge of the game - SCREAMS college prospect so I'm glad that she has already found her future home. At Blair High School this Winter, Sullivan will be one of the prospects that they run all of their main action through. If she plays to her full capabilities, she could have the best high school of her career to date. I'm not sure if I would count on that from a team/coaching stand-point but it's definitely possible from an outside perspective.
