Many times, we immediately notice the scorers on the floor but overlook the players doing all the dirty work on both ends. These are the players locking down their matchups while still putting the ball in the bucket on the other end. Let's take a look at some standout players in the 2027 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='743520' first='Kimora' last='Green'] (Cover image) is the kind of defender that makes you immediately pass the ball when you see her coming. I first saw Kimora last season with Tampa Prep, competing against Cardinal Mooney in the 3A regional semifinals. As a freshman, Kimora played like a veteran, guarding all the ball handlers with full-court pressure and creating chaos for the entire team. She caused several turnovers that led to easy offense.

Green finished that game with 14 points, multiple steals, and a couple of drawn charges against the consecutive 3A state runner-ups. Since then, Green has been a consistent two-way player, a top-notch defender who is a nightmare for ball handlers, while also being a reliable 3-point shooter and not afraid to attack the rim.

Once she develops a consistent one- or two-dribble pull-up, she will be nearly unstoppable, as she plays with the same grit and intensity on offense as she does on defense. Look for her to play a major role at Tampa Catholic this year, adding to their highly talented roster and making them a favorite to compete for the 3A state championship

[player_tooltip player_id='873464' first='Victoria' last='Hall'] may be young, but she is already a defensive presence with a unique ability to track rebounds and block shots at their highest point. As a freshman, Hall played a significant role, logging big minutes for powerhouse Winter Haven High School. She competed against top talent all the way to the 6A state semifinal against the bigger powerhouse, Dr. Phillips, where she recorded 7 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks, despite the loss. Hall proved she has a bright future ahead.

This season, Winter Haven has brought in more talent, but Hall will still play a key role, finishing with her soft touch around the rim and continuing to protect the rim and paint..

[player_tooltip player_id='400813' first='Asiana' last='McCreary'] is a highly versatile player who can run the floor as an athletic forward, using that same athleticism to stay in front of defenders on the wing while being strong enough to guard players in the post. She also has a few impressive post moves, knowing how to drop step and pump fake defenders to create easier shots.

Defensively, her ability to rotate over in help defense and block shots forces turnovers. She can also sit down in her stance and move her feet well for her size and age, showing impressive coordination. Her athletic ability makes her a scoring threat and a defensive problem for opponents.

I'm confident that after this sophomore season, Asiana will be known throughout the state as a top college prospect, as her potential is VERY high.

[player_tooltip player_id='515069' first='Erynn' last='Moffett'], out of Palm Bay High School, is part of a program that consistently produces top Division I collegiate prospects. 'Moffett' is up NEXT. Last season at Palm Bay, she was second in points per game (11.1), only behind Power 5 recruit [player_tooltip player_id='346835' first='Jaida' last='Civil'], and she also shot an impressive 57% from the field.

But scoring isn't all she does. I've seen multiple games where Moffett guards and plays positions 1 through 5, and she does it all well. She handles the ball smoothly, has great footwork and post moves, and can shoot efficiently off the catch. Defensively, she's tall and strong enough to hold her own in the post, while still being fast and agile enough to guard on the wing.

By the time she's a senior, Erynn will undoubtedly be another Power 5 prospect from Palm Bay. This season, Palm Bay has reloaded with more top prospects, and even though Moffett will only be a sophomore, she will be a leader and play a major role in their run for the state championship.

[player_tooltip player_id='972357' first='Jayla' last='Griffin'], as a freshman last season at Spoto High, led the team in scoring with 15.4 points per game while shooting an impressive 58% from the field. She also led the team in assists, averaging 2.1 per game, and in steals with 3.9 per game. In one game, Jayla recorded a double-double with 20 points and 14 steals, along with 5 assists.

Jayla is a shifty guard with tight handles and the kind of swagger that only confident ballers possess. She has the ability to create her own shot off the dribble, whether it's pulling up for a jumper or finding a creative way to finish at the rim.

For her sophomore year, Jayla will be transferring to 6A defending state-runner ups, Bloomingdale High, alongside a few other transfers and top returners. Jayla will play a big role in helping Bloomingdale capture a 6A state championship.
