Tuesday morning, we released the updated rankings for the Class of 2027. With 125 players now either ranked in our Top 50 or a part of our 75-person watch list in 2027, I wanted to take the time to highlight a few girls from each position group. Below is a look at the point guards and the 18 ladies included in this specific group, followed by some analysis on a handful of those prospects.

Riley had a solid Freshman season in a strong conference, averaging more than 25 minutes, 4.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and just 2.2 turnovers per game. More than that, though, as the season wore on, she offered them poise at the lead guard position. She has speed & quickness, she's tough at her size, and she has several nice leadership qualities. I am anxious to see how much better she is, and she makes the Flashes, during 2024-2025, with that experience under her belt.

Last year, Averi led a rather young core into action at East Noble, helping them to a 13-9 season...their first winning season since 2016-2017. This coming Winter, look for them to be even more successful. Averi is a strong, hard-working, skillful guard who can score the ball or facilitate to teammates. As a Freshman, she averaged 9.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game, while shooting 51% from the field. I would anticipate the Knights approaching 20 wins this time around.

Alexis was good at the PGH Freshman Showcase last Fall, she had a nice start to her career last Winter, was again good for her grassroots team all Spring & Summer, then was great earlier this month at the PGH Sophomore ID Camp. She has a great feel for the game, plus she mixes playing fast and aggressively with patience and efficiency. She averaged 5.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.0 steals as a Freshman, and I would anticipate those numbers, and Pirate wins, increase this Winter.

Jayla is a prospect who has just gotten better and better as she continues to learn the game. She is extremely long, quick, fast, and very feisty. She has a shiftiness to her game when handling it offensively, she's creative, plus she has some touch from around the perimeter. I also really like her urgency at the defensive end of the floor, as she can really cause havoc with her length, whether she's defending ball-handlers, or she's getting her hands in passing lanes from one pass away.

In my times seeing Kendal over the last year or so, she has been a heady, hard-working, versatile point guard who can fill different roles from the lead spot. She can take care of the ball, initiate the offense, and facilitate when that's needed. She also has nice athleticism, can create off the dribble, or knock down open shots when in rhythm, if needed to score. Defensively, she will compete, she is aware and effortful as well, she will make a lot of hustle plays, like grab loose balls & rebounds.
