Saturday, Prep Girls Hoops Indiana held its annual Freshman Showcase to help identify several of the state's top Freshmen. With 90 prospects from the 2028 class in attendance, this provided an opportunity to see them compete head-to-head, as well as together, in a combination of 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games. The event was loaded with talent, making it difficult to limit the strong play to just a handful of players, so I wanted to circle back and discuss everyone from Teams 5 & 6. There will be additional articles highlighting Teams 7-10 over the next couple of days.

Team #5:

#120 [player_tooltip player_id='992359' first='Kendall' last='Patterson'], 5-5 CG, Winchester Community H.S. - Kendall seems like a typical Winchester guard. She is quick, has some length, and looks to shoot it outside on most catches. She can slide over and run offense as well, plus she has a solid IQ for the game.

#125 [player_tooltip player_id='990954' first='Madelyn' last='Bender'], 5-5 CG, Evansville Central H.S. - [see her review here]

#153 A'Myah Sowell, 5-9 SF, Lawrence Central H.S. - A'Myah has an athletic frame, length, wiry strength, and she moves well in most directions, including being somewhat bouncy. She showed nice potential as an attacking driver, plus she rebounded the ball well.

#248 [player_tooltip player_id='992348' first='Gracie' last='Matheny'], 5-7 SG, New Albany H.S - Gracie seemed like a pretty experienced guard prospect. She has a solid to strong frame, she is a balanced athlete, and she plays with a strong motor. She showed some versatility offensively, but she is more of a shooter/scorer at this point.

#270 [player_tooltip player_id='992355' first='Kalila' last='Turpin'], 5-3 CG, Cloverdale H.S. - Kalila is a strong guard for her size, and she likes to play with physicality. She plays extremely hard, she's tough, and she has a solid all-around skillset. She can act as a point guard and manage offense, or she can knock down open shots.

#531 [player_tooltip player_id='954835' first='Kaitlyn' last='Morgan'], 5-2 SG, Twin Lakes H.S. - Kaitlyn is a shorter but strong, physical, and very hard-working wing guard. She will battle bigger players defensively, but offensively she also has some skill. She can knock down an open jumper when in rhythm, and she can initiate the offense.

#532 [player_tooltip player_id='743005' first='Kayly' last='Cline'], 5-2 PG, Tri H.S. - Kayly was another smaller guard prospect, but she has really nice length, fluidity & quickness, plus she was very crafty Saturday. She handled it solidly, knocked down open shots, and really, she just needs to continue building strength at this point.

#856 [player_tooltip player_id='992366' first='Mercedes' last='Bernal'], 5-5 SG, Lebanon H.S. - Mercedes is a long, wiry guard who plays with nice fluidity. Really, she just needs time to finish growing and gaining strength. Otherwise, she has a solid, balanced skillset, and she seems to understand the game well.

#981 [player_tooltip player_id='992358' first='Kaylyn' last='Grogan'], 5-9 PF/C, Scottsburg H.S. - Kaylyn is a little undersized for how she plays, but she is a very strong kid, and she plays with a tremendous motor. She seemed willing to battle much taller players inside, and she showed some skill in the mid-post offensively.

.

Team #6:

#61 [player_tooltip player_id='992338' first='Aubree' last='Waltz'], 5-7 SG/SF, Center Grove H.S. - Aubree is a very strong wing prospect who played with an outstanding motor on Saturday and really competed. She showed off a really nice skillset, and she knocked down open shots consistently, when in rhythm.

#123 [player_tooltip player_id='992343' first='Brynlee' last='Patterson'], 5-5 SG, Monroe Central H.S. - Brynlee is one of those kids who just looks like a multisport athlete. She has a wiry-strong frame, she moves well in most directions, and she plays with a motor. She was very versatile around the perimeter, and she seemed productive.

#124 [player_tooltip player_id='992345' first='Elayna' last='Frank'], 5-5 SG, Bloomington H.S. North - "Lulu", as she's known, has broad shoulders, nice length, and some strength to her frame. She is a solid athlete, and she seemed to have a pretty balanced, well-rounded skillset.

#180 [player_tooltip player_id='992368' first='Rachel' last='Behrle'], 5-4 PG, Guerin Catholic H.S. - Rachel is rather long & wiry at her height, she has nice quickness/shiftiness to her game, and she played with her head up looking for teammates most of the day. I feel like she has a nice IQ for the game, she just needs time to get stronger.

#481 [player_tooltip player_id='992370' first='Sammi' last='Clarke'], 5-7 SG, Washington H.S. - Sammi seemed like a really nice, balanced athlete, who moved well in most directions. She has really nice length, she played with a great motor, and she showed a solid all-around skillset. She could become a really nice wing guard prospect.

#893 [player_tooltip player_id='992363' first='Lauren' last='Paliga'], 5-10 SF/PF, Lake Central H.S. - Lauren is a very intriguing forward who stood out because of her length, wiry-strong frame, fluidity, and bounce. She just "looks the part" of an athletic forward. She has some skill, but as she lets the game come to her, she'll be more consistent.

#894 [player_tooltip player_id='992347' first='Emma' last='Myszak'], 5-9 SF/PF, Lake Central H.S. - Emma is another nice prospect for Lake Central. She has a solid to strong frame already, she plays with some physicality, has a nice motor, and showed off a versatile inside-out style of play in the mid-post and around the perimeter.
