New on the Competitve Landscape

As the season draws closer, teams are tuning up with Fall League play and open gyms. In this article we hilight a few players who are new on the scene and are poised to make an impact on their respective teams.    [player_tooltip player_id='996730' first='Casey' last='Eliason'] played well on Day 1 of the Fall League. She had some nice moves to the basket with some good footwork and quality finishes in the paint against some very good defenders. Eliason moves well without the ball and makes herself open in the paint. The young Center also runs the floor well and can finish in transition. Eliason showed some grit in the paint and is not afraid to put her body on somebody. Eliason is a versatile defender who can defend on gthe inside and on the wing.       Leylianna Love looked mighty intimidating on the floor and really brought the physical play. Most defenders will have a tough time against her in the paint. Love has a nice midrange and short jumper and is working on being more consistent in the scoring department. She defends well in the paint andn can block shots and change a lot of shots in the paint. She also rebounds well on both ends of the court. She is what you would call a diamond in the rough. Look for her game to smooth out this upcoming season.       Redrianna Mitchell is going to give a lot of guards problems with her length. The Freshman guard is very skilled. Defensively, Mitchell really shines. She is an agressive defender who knows how to play the passing lanes and is a savvy defender who knows how to anchor the middle of the press and get steals and buckets.     [player_tooltip player_id='996776' first='Sage' last='Pytel'] has a nice game and has a lot of shots in her bag. The young guard can shoot it from the perimeter, drive the ball to the rim, and also pull-up in the midrange area. Pytel has a good awareness on the court and a nice feel for the game. She is a confident player who makes good decisions on the floor.     [player_tooltip player_id='997334' first='Jacqueline' last='Ches'] was on fire from the perimeter and thats's nothing new. The young guard knocked down 34 threes last season as a Freshman. Ches has a smooth shot and a natural scoring ability from all levels of the court. If you close out too fast, she is crafty enough to get to the rim or draw the foul. On day one of the Fall Leaugue, the young guard was the best shooter in the building. Ches also gives great effort on the defensive end and on the break. On one one occasion she went coast to coast and attacked the rim with a lot of creativity and good ball handling skills.       Brianna Smith was impressive for an 8th grader playing up on varsity. Smith is strong on the blocks and has a nice power move to the basket. The young power forward also has the ability to step behind the arc and shoot the three. Smith runs the floor well and does a good job battling for rebounds. She will be a fuin player to watch develop as the season continues.
