Oklahoma Freshman Showcase Standouts (Part 1)

Myself covered team 2-4-7. It does not mean that I did not peek over at other courts and watch. Here are some notes taken Saturday. Honors and team breakdown to come. Moved off the ball scoring on several back door cuts with great hands for the catch and finish. Complete shooting game meaning she can knock down the 3 but also possess a strong mid range game. Handled the ball on the dribble using a pocket hesi to get by the defender. Long on defense that can get wide on the ball or tall on the inside. Impressive player seeing for the first time in person. Aliyah has grown over the summer so what you have now is a 5'10 guard that can play the point spot. Knocked down several 3's to show her range but the mid range game was very nice. Physical driver to the rim with great control Impressive was that she created the contact first then shot the ball. Tough on the ball defender! Really liked her game as she does a lot of little things that most do not do now these days. First caught my eye in 3 on3 when she was crashing the boards among the bigs. A very quick guard that pushed the tempo during 5 on 5 play. Nice footwork on the catch and shoot allowing her to have a very quick release. Great vision in the the half court and full court play. A very nice player that moves great without the ball always finding the open gaps for scoring opportunities. Nice midrange jumper off the dribble. A very strong baseline driver that creates contact making her way to the basket for the finish. Nice handles off the wing that continued to get paint touches. Showed the outside that kept the defense respectable. A player that will be on my watch list this season. Definitely a player that can change a program when she enters High School. Long athletic player that could play 3-5 positions on the court. Good handles that can take a player off the wing for a rim finish. Nice footwork in the post area showing a up/under move and a nice over the shoulder finish. Nice mid range jumper from baseline and high post area. Showed great IQ in understanding the game during the 3 on 3 play by keeping the spacing and moving without the ball. A very quick shot that does not need much space nor time to knock it down. Excellent driver off the wing dropping her shoulder down to attack her defender. A player that can get you a double double with assist, and points. Aggressive on the boards so I would not throw out she could have some triple doubles games.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
