A couple of weeks ago, we released the updated rankings for the Class of 2027. With 125 players now either ranked in our Top 50 or a part of our 75-person watch list in 2027, I wanted to take the time to highlight a few girls from each position group. Below is a look at the small forwards and the 26 ladies included in this specific group, followed by some analysis on a handful of those prospects.

With fellow classmate [player_tooltip player_id='610126' first='Rylee' last='Canaan'] having already made an early commitment, Paige should now become the attention of many schools at this point in the recruiting process. She has a strong, physical frame, she's willing to seek contact, rebound, and defend, plus she plays with a nice motor. However, she is also athletic at her size, she has developed touch in the mid-post, and she is starting to put it on the floor more effectively from 15-feet and finish around the basket. As she defends the perimeter better, she'll be that much more complete.

Chesney looks to lead a strong 2027 group into action for the Pirates. She has broad shoulders and some strength, she's a solid all-around athlete, plus she's skilled in the mid-post and plays with a motor. She is one of the lesser-known prospects in the class, but I assure you, she can play a little. She averaged 8.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game as a Freshman, and I would expect her to post a double-double average in her second year as a Varsity performer. This time, she could also be the offensive focal point for Charlestown.

When I saw Casey throughout the Spring & Summer, one word came to mind: "upside". She is a long, wiry, fluid, and somewhat bouncy athlete who flashed the potential to continue growing and developing her game. She is very active, she pursues rebounds outside of her area, plus she has a really nice game at 15-feet that looks like it could translate at 21-feet with a little more work and consistency. She can sit down and defend multiple positions, plus she can put it on the floor and attack the basket North/South.

If it wasn't for a deep and talented frontline at Pike, Elyssa could very well flirt with a double-double this year. She has performed well each time I've seen her, and in multiple environments. She is extremely long, very active, and a nice all-around athlete who might not be done growing. She likes to play with her back to the basket still, but she has also shown a nice mid-post jumper. She can block shots inside or come out on the floor and defend, plus she's a pursuing rebounder who will chase down caroms outside of her area.

Zoe got a small taste of Varsity action last year (limited minutes in 9 games played), but she could be a fixture along the Lady Raider frontline as a Sophomore. She has a strong frame for her age, she doesn't mind physicality at all, she's a nice all-around athlete, and she plays with an outstanding motor. She is the enforcing, rebounder/defender type who helps teams win games, but she does have some mid-post skill and the ability to finish through contact at the basket. With a little more polish, she could approach double-double averages.
