gives Pike a versatile frontcourt presence capable of impacting games in numerous ways. Her combination of size, athleticism, and toughness allows her to be effective on both ends of the floor.
Nichols excels around the basket where she can finish through contact, battle for rebounds, and create second-chance opportunities. However, her game extends beyond traditional post play. She has the mobility to defend multiple positions and the skill set to contribute offensively in a variety of situations.
Heading into June, Nichols will be one of Pike’s most important players. Her ability to control the glass, defend at a high level, and provide consistent offensive production gives Pike a reliable foundation as they prepare to face elite competition throughout the summer. College coaches will continue to appreciate her motor and willingness to do the little things that help teams win.

Sometimes it is about opportunity, and during the 2025-2026 season, Elyssa shared the Pike frontcourt with two Seniors who were committed to Division I schools. This Spring, she is shining, and I’ve had a few coaches ask, “who is THAT kid?” She has nice length, good all-around athleticism, she plays with balance off of two feet a lot, and she has a variety of little post hooks and finishes in her repertoire. She’s also good scoring it in the mid-post, plus she shows the same versatility defensively, as she can come out on the floor and defend wings, if necessary, or patrol the paint.

Elyssa is a real talent, and for those people who like to look at statistics alone and not understand a situation, she could have a “breakout” year for Pike next season. This year, she was behind two NCAA Division-I recruits on one of the deepest teams in the state. She has tremendous length, she’s a really nice athlete in most directions, and she has the combination of a nice back-to-the-basket game and a mid-post jumper that keep defenders honest. She is very good defensively as well, where she uses her length and bounce to block/alter several shots. Plus she can outrun most matchups in transition.

from Pike continues to emerge as a player to watch, especially being ranked in the top 50 overall and the 8th best forward in the state, bringing a strong combination of finishing ability, energy, and a relentless motor every time she steps on the floor. She plays with a level of effort and intensity that stands out immediately and allows her to consistently impact the game.
Offensively, Elyssa excels at attacking the rim and finishing through contact. She does a great job of getting into the paint and converting opportunities around the basket, using her strength, timing, and touch to score in traffic. Her ability to finish at a high level makes her a reliable scoring option, especially when the game speeds up. She doesn’t shy away from contact and is comfortable playing downhill, which puts pressure on defenses.
What really separates Elyssa is her motor. She plays hard on every possession, whether she’s sprinting the floor, crashing the boards, or defending. That constant effort creates extra possessions for her team and often leads to hustle plays that can swing momentum. Her energy is contagious and sets a tone for her teammates. Heading into the spring and summer,

Anyone who watches Elyssa play is immediately impressed by her impact on the court. An athletic forward with versatility and skill well beyond her years, she is a player who deserves more recognition in Indiana. Elyssa possesses exceptional hands and explosive leaping ability, whether securing rebounds, finishing at the rim, or contesting shots on the defensive end. She shows excellent footwork against players her size, demonstrating both strength and finesse, but what truly stands out is her ability to score effectively on both sides of the basket and in transition. Her offensive repertoire is diverse—she can score with her back to the basket using solid post moves, face up and drive past defenders, or step out and hit mid-range shots with confidence. Beyond her physical tools and skills, Elyssa impresses with her leadership, work ethic, and communication. Elyssa projects as one of the top forwards in the Class of 2027 and a cornerstone for Pike, with the potential to make an immediate impact at the varsity level. Her combination of athleticism, skill, basketball IQ, and leadership positions her to be a standout player for years to come, and she is a name that should be on the radar of every college program in the state.

If it wasn’t for a deep and talented frontline at Pike, Elyssa could very well flirt with a double-double this year. She has performed well each time I’ve seen her, and in multiple environments. She is extremely long, very active, and a nice all-around athlete who might not be done growing. She likes to play with her back to the basket still, but she has also shown a nice mid-post jumper. She can block shots inside or come out on the floor and defend, plus she’s a pursuing rebounder who will chase down caroms outside of her area.

I saw Elyssa during the June scholastic live period, and I felt like she had a lot of potential. Watching her for a second time Saturday, she was very impactful. She rebounded at both ends, but it was her offensive rebounding that stood out, because she kept possessions alive for her team. She sought contact and posted hard, and when she caught the ball, she either made an immediate move to the rim, or she turned and knocked down a tough jumper over the defender. As she continues to build skill, she has the talent to play outside.
