The 2024-25 regular season tips off in a matter of weeks. In that time, we at Prep Girls Hoops figured that one of the best ways to get high school girls basketball aficionados fired up for the upcoming season is to emphasize key players that are sure to leave their imprint on said upcoming season.

Over the last several days, we have written about several noteworthy standouts from the senior, junior and sophomore classes for fans to remember. Last, but certainly not least, we shift our attention to this year's freshman class.

Who will be among those 2028 point guards that ought to put together breakout freshman seasons? We think we have an idea.

Her name certainly rings bells from this year's Prep Girls Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase in Rock Hill. Robinson was one of the standout performers from that event and will surely be a reason why Southeast Guilford remains among the upper echelon of 4A teams throughout the Hoop State. The Falcons already put together an impressive showing last season after winning 17 games. Robinson definitely makes Southeast Guilford even better. She has accurate long range shooting capabilities and also understands how to change speeds with the ball on her hands. Court awareness and leadership capabilities are not often found in younger players, but Robinson is not one's garden variety 2028.

We move from one Triad region standout to another. Cox spent her spring and summer running on the grassroots circuit with Elevate Elite 3SSB (Adidas). In fact, her team even participated in the Spring Tip-Off of this past season's Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. Cox, as an eighth grader, was part of a Wesleyan Christian Academy 2023-24 rendition that completed last season with a record of 22-11 not to mention a 6-4 conference mark. The Trojans also advanced to the second round of the NCISAA 4A state tournament. Cox is, of course, a youngster whose game is still developing but one can see plenty of upside not only as a scorer but as a ball distributor.

Following a previous stint at the high school level with 4A Cuthbertson, this past summer it was revealed that Wilson will sport the uniform of Jackson Day School. The Mariners first had a girls basketball team in 2018-19 and put together its winningest season in its short history in 2023-24. Jackson Day finished with a 26-7 record and a 7-3 mark in its conference. Wilson will surely be a worthwhile addition to the Mariners. A key reason as to why is her ability to attack the basket. Defensively, she understands when the correct moment is to poke the ball from an opposing ball carrier and Wilson also excels in the passing game as well.

Back to the Greensboro area here. Standing at a height of 5-foot-4, Sides will be a worthwhile addition to a Northwest Guilford team that had another winning season during the Haley Hackett era. The Vikings finished 2023-24 with a mark of 19-8 not to mention a record of 12-3 in its 4A Metro Conference. Northwest Guilford only graduated three seniors from last season's team meaning the transition into the high school ranks should be a bit smoother than it is for many coming out of middle school. Sides' hoops career has included playing at Summerfield Charter School and on the AAU level with FBC Drive.
