The Compound Fall League: Week 5 Playoffs Pt 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Compound Athletics has hosted a variety of Eastern Michigan high school teams over the past five weeks. The league champion was crowned following a 4-team elimination tournament with consolation teams also playing a final game. Warren Regina defeated South Lake and Utica Eisenhower defeated Utica Ford in the semifinals. Utica Eisenhower secured the fall league championship behind contributions from several members of their team at pivotal moments throughout the games. She ferociously blocked several shots in the paint and secured many rebounds. Anayya crashed the boards for an offensive rebound put back and scored a swift fake-pass scoop layup in transition. Anayya knocked down her shot from the charity stripe and drove hard through the paint to draw defenders before dishing an assist to her teammate. Claire protected the rim by blocking multiple shots and shuffled quickly on defense to force a turnover. Claire was effective when rolling to the basket off of screens and finished many layups off two feet. Claire secured rebounds on both ends, scored a layup in transition, and added a mid-range jumper. She jumped in front of multiple passes for steals and easy layups. Julia blew by her defender using a hesitation crossover dribble and buried a deep corner jumper. Julia converted a strong and-one layup through contact and many layups throughout the game. She has excellent vision and the ability to create separation using combo dribbles. Brooklyn beat defenders off the dribble to score layups and dish assists to teammates. She showed her efficiency as a 3-point sniper, hitting multiple shots including a quick step-back triple. Nylah blocked several shots inside, on the perimeter, and deflected a pass to secure a steal. Nylah sealed her defender with a strong base in the low post and smartly relocated away from the ball when she wasn't open. Nylah efficiently converted layups and putbacks around the basket, finishing with a game-high 23 points...as an 8th grader. Mikayla contributed in every aspect of the game to help her team compete. She buried two wing 3s, wrestled for 50/50 balls, split defenders with her dribble to score a tough contested layup, and created multiple steals. Mikayla is a verbal leader on the court and a scrappy competitor.
