The fall is always an exciting time for the basketball heads because the high school teams are starting to organize and get ready for the season. Fall leagues take flight and this gives us a chance to view the prospects and see which teams should be contenders. Part of the process is evaluating which players have worked to improve their games the most. Here is a look at five that I think are poised to take a big jump either statistically or how they impact the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='433800' first='Arianna' last='Harris-Mott'], Pallotti, 2026, Center

Arianna has always been a defensive force and a major factor on the glass. At 6'4" she has the size to impact the game on both ends of the court, and now her offense has started to emerge. She showed off a nice face up game with a mid-range jumper as well the ability to blow by defenders and finish at the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='786431' first='Mya' last='Clark'], McDonogh, 2027, Wing

Mya's confidence has been through the roof this fall. She's always had guard skills and at 6'3" is a match up nightmare. She is now moving quicker and more decisively with everything she does. The game has slowed down for her and that's going to be a problem for defenders this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='539737' first='Brianna' last='Pope'], Poly, 2025, Forward

Brianna has shown improvement in ball handling and passing and has been stepping into her perimeter shots with more confidence. She's always been a leader but has taken that to another level as well. She should put up good numbers this season.

Iffie Umeh, McDonogh, 2027, Small Forward

Iffie has been great throughout league play and looks like she is ready to take a big jump and step right into the rotation this season. She's 5'10" and very active on the boards and she provides some physicality for her team. She finished well around the basket and provided spark with hustle plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='798406' first='London' last='Harvey'], Rosedale Christian Academy, 2025, Power Forward

London committed to Longwood University and went to work on improving her game. She has refined her shooting skills and now has a nice face up some around 15 feet. She's finishing better at the rim and has been great at communicating and anchoring the defense.
