Baltimore's Underclassmen Shine at Senior Showcase Basketball

<p>The final game at 695 Hoops Senior Showcase allowed the underclassmen to shine, while showing the crowd they are ready and willing to step up as the seniors leave a void in their lineups. Broken down by position, the players who most impressed Saturday were led by Kayden, arguably the purest scorer in her class, and Maggie, whose well-defined game has already drawn attention from local colleges.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mamba Like Scorers:</h2>   <p>All three ladies are multi-level scorers, each bringing a distinctive style of play with the ability to take over a game at any moment.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Maggie showed great poise against fierce competition on Saturday. Despite often being picked up full court, she remained under control while keeping her head up. In the half-court, Maggie prefers to operate from the top of the key, where she uses her size and feel for the game to create opportunities and get to her pull-up spots. Look for Maggie to make a major jump over the summer as she will playing up in the AAU circuit.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Masara's game has taken a noticeable step forward over the winter, and she gave the crowd a glimpse of that growth on Saturday. She thrives starting from the wing in the triple-threat, where she can attack the baseline or rise into a smooth step-back jumper. In transition, she runs the floor as well as anyone, and her ability to score on the break often ignites her overall game.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Kayden's game is tailor-made for a showcase setting, as she can do just about anything with the ball and thrives in moments where she can call for an iso. She's a true three-level scorer with great court vision, making her a tough cover. Defensively, she applies full-court pressure with a wide base and active length, using her wingspan to disrupt opposing guards the entire length of the floor.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Leaders of the Court:</h2>   <p>These ladies serve as coaches on the floor, bringing leadership and poise to every possession. Their team operates much more smoothly with the ball in their hands, as each controls the game with a distinctly different style of play.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Alexis controls the tempo quite well on both sides of the ball. Offensively, she can settle into a traditional role, running the offense with efficiency, while her experience as a floor general shows in her instincts, knowing when to rise for a mid-range pull-up or step behind the arc. Defensively, she is a willing competitor who embraces the challenge of guarding the ball full court.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Peyton is a steady point guard who plays at her own pace, consistently looking to create for her teammates through penetration and timely kick-outs. She brings solid on-ball defense and does a great job reading passing lanes to generate steals, while also showing a willingness to crash the boards and contribute on the glass.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Multi-Position Player:</h2>   <p>Ms. Carter's versatility allows her to play and defend multiple positions, making her a constant presence on the court.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Calia has strong in-game instincts that allow her to play with a natural, freestyle rhythm. She flows within the action, putting herself in positions where the ball finds her for quality scoring opportunities both inside and outside the paint. Defensively, her balanced footwork and high IQ enable her to effectively guard positions 1 through 4 with confidence and discipline.</p>
