Regular season practice has started all across the Bluegrass state and scrimmages will start in the next month. I wanted to breakdown the top 5 college prospects and the top 5 teams in each region heading into the year. This should not be considered the top 5 overall players! These are the best college prospects in each region.

Region 1:

Top 5 Prospects:

[player_tooltip player_id='494359' first='Sayler' last='Lowe'], Calloway County (2026) - One of the best Juniors in the state and a mismatch issue for every opponent in the region.

[player_tooltip player_id='254285' first='Skylar' last='Waller'], Marshall County (2025) - A big time scorer who is skilled and can really shoot it. A D1 talent for sure.

[player_tooltip player_id='663862' first='Lay' last='Mayes'], Mayfield (2026) - Lay averaged over 17 points per game last season and will only get better as her three point shooting numbers should trend up.

[player_tooltip player_id='761880' first='Jaidan' last='Koch'], Calloway County (2026) - Jaidan is overlooked but there will be plenty of nights where she leads the Lady Lakers in scoring this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='978239' first='Ava' last='Hughes'], McCracken County (2027) - McCracken will be reloading a little bit this season but Hughes is ready to be their go to scoring option.

Top 5 Teams:

Calloway County - A talented group overall, they have the best player in Lowe and enough firepower to win a lot of games.

Marshall County - Marshall has the talent to knock off Calloway and these two could play each other 3 or 4 times this season.

McCracken County - They have to reload but there has been a steady flow of talent the last 4-5 years coming through the program and this season should be no different.

Mayfield - Mayes is a good scorer and Lex Feagin is a solid second option for a team that may surprise folks this season.

Graves County - [player_tooltip player_id='555984' first='Hannah' last='Glisson'] is a talented Senior and the role players should be solid. Graves is always a top 4-5 team in the region.

Region 2:

Top 5 Prospects:

[player_tooltip player_id='493155' first='Atylia' last='Green'], Henderson (2026) - A versatile playmaker, Green is the best prospect on the best team in the region.

[player_tooltip player_id='376793' first='Anna' last='Boone'], Crittenden County (2026) - One of the standouts at our Expo last month, Boone is versatile and ready to have a big season.

[player_tooltip player_id='376763' first='Anaysia' last='Bagwell'], Christian County (2026) - One of the top returning scorers in the region, Bagwell is maybe the most valuable player to her team in the region.

[player_tooltip player_id='722828' first='Piper' last='Cotham'], Lyon County (2027) - Averaging 20 points per game last season with splits of 49-37-82 is super impressive. Don't sleep on Piper as the best pure scorer in Western Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='913400' first='Trinity' last='Taylor'], Lyon County (2027) - The Robin to Cotham's Batman, Trinity is a good prospect in her own right as well. She averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds last year and will only get better as her outside shooting improves.

Top 5 Teams:

Henderson County - Loaded roster that returns everyone from last season. Don't be surprised if they get to Rupp and stick around until the weekend there.

Christian County - Bagwell is a big time talent. If she, [player_tooltip player_id='901275' first='Lazarie' last='Daniel'] and Naveah Day are all playing well, they will be hard to beat.

Lyon County - Young but talented, Cotham and Taylor are a little reminiscent of the Travis Perry/Brady Shoulders duo that took Lyon County to a state title on the boys side last season.

Crittenden County - A super young roster that doesn't have a single Senior on it. Boone is good and the rest are going to be counted on to form a talented supporting cast.

Madisonville-North Hopkins - [player_tooltip player_id='555974' first='Riley' last='Sword'] is back for her Senior season and they only graduated one player but they will be relying on some very inexperienced players off the bench.
