High School sports are a marathon, not a sprint. To be a solid prospect in whatever you are competing in, you have to stack days and stack seasons, year-by-year. In this piece we briefly talk about five players out of Iowa that put together respectable seasons together last Winter and they are looking to build on that over these next few months.

Griffin attended our PGH event this Fall and showed out as one of the best overall prospects in the gym. Griffin is a player with size, great touch, athletic ability, and knowledge of the game. She understands when to take advantage of her personal matchup, compared to rotating the ball. Not to mention, her thorough scoring ability mixed along with that makes her a tough opponent to stay in front of. This Winter Griffin is going to step up big time. It wouldn't surprise me if she ended off the season being their leader in most positive statistical categories. She is that impactful and that should be on full display over the next couple of months.

IC - City High is going to surprise a lot of people this Winter at the Varsity level. This has always been a competitive group but they have now had everything fall into place, that should help lead them to a big Playoff run this time around. Someone at their SG position that is going to be an important piece to their puzzle is Tess Driscoll. Driscoll can light it up from deep in a hurry, she isn't bad at putting it on the ground, and she understands what is a good shot, compared to a bad one. This team is going to be so hard to beat because of how many weapons they have. They can kill you in all sorts of ways and I'm sure they are excited to show off that ability in a few short days to kick off their season.

There is a big question mark around CR - Jefferson for myself moving into this season because I am not sure where their underclassmen group is going to take things. This program is loaded with talent in the 2028 and 2027 Class, so their future will primarily be in their hands. An individual that stepped up in moments a year ago, who I'm excited to see once again this Winter is PG/SG - [player_tooltip player_id='644546' first='Addyson' last='Luvan']. Luvan is one of the quickest out of the guards, she has a solid handle with an ability to create for others off the dribble, and she can shoot it at a respectable rate when given adequate time. Over the years, I have a feeling Luvan will turn into a PG, that can shoot it extremely well from deep. She already shows glimpses of that so as long as she continues to expand her game and works on her consistency, that's what I see coming up in the near future.

[player_tooltip player_id='656292' first='Zoe' last='Allen'] of Williamsburg has done a great job of stacking seasons, competing at a high level whenever she takes the hardwood. Allen is going to return this Winter to Williamsburg as their force in the middle once again. Allen has been a constant on the PGH Circuit throughout the years for AAU ball so we have seen what she can do at a bigger level and it is noteworthy to say the least. This is a player that rebounds hard, can score with her back to the basket, she can screen and roll, and she can move without the ball pretty well. Williamsburg has some collegiate level players going into this season and Allen is 100% in that conversation. Her natural height, skill, and smarts are better than the average and that could translate one day if she finds the right opportunity.

The state of Iowa is somewhat sleeping on [player_tooltip player_id='941009' first='Khiya' last='Williams'] of Westwood High School and [program_tooltip program_id='937533' first='Swarm' last='Basketball'] AAU. Williams comes in as a 5'7/5'8 PG that demonstrates control, she has shifty handle, her vision is always on point, and she is very good at getting to the bucket in 1v1 matchups. This is going to be Williams Senior season and she is ready to leave it all out on the floor. She competes with a high motor and a lot of heart so I would imagine that she will be ready to go. I'm sure she has been ready for months, so now it's time to see what she can put together before everything is said and done.
