Key Players to Watch in Class A Region 1 & 2

Mind you we are also in the middle of the holiday season, which bring some tremendous tournaments that happen around the state. Just as it is so that people get together with their families and reflect, I too wanted to take the time and reflect and give an outlook on the Class A Region 1 &amp; 2 districts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>What I love about this classification is the pageantry. Throughout a lot of public schools, the town supports their local high school teams. Grandparents, parents, siblings, alumni, come back and cheer on the hometown team along with current students and faculty. Each school has it's own special touch that adds to the ambiance of the gym. Cloudland (28-1) &amp; North Greene (26-10) battled it out to get to where they belonged. The matchups between these two during the regular season were close, however they did their thing to get to the “Glass House” last season. Each had a spectacular season last year and I expect them to be the top two in the district trying to make another run at state contention. A dark horse team would be Unaka right there with them. Shifty, she can score it from multiple levels, makes the right reads, uses her quickness to attack favorable spots and just finishes. This kid is solid on both ends of the floor. A heady floor general who can score it and make timely assists with the best of them. Has been battled tested from this summer and will look to bring her expertise and experience to this district. This kid is one of the top guards in her class. She can get it done from the arc, but she owns the painted area. When I say owns, she does it on both ends of the floor. Shots aren't going to come easy in the paint. She's on the boards on both ends, blocks shots, uses her body to get in position to get steals. This kid is a gamer and she could post double doubles each and every night. I expect Washburn to run away with it. This has been a formidable program over the years and the culture they breed is phenomenal. I expect these ladies to make some noise and compete towards an opportunity to travel to Murfreesboro. Like I mentioned earlier, the district is getting better. Leads by example, puts on a show, her teammates follow her lead as she puts up numbers across the board. A multi-sports athlete, she uses her athleticism to be in favorable spots to her advantage. Her game continues to grow and her confidence is on the up and up. Look for her to have a solid season and help lead Washburn over the hump.
