Versatile Sophomores

These sophomores have shown some outstanding potential over the last year and can affect the game in multiple ways, whether it's being a two-way player, showing the ability to play inside and out, or having some playmaking from the front court. These girls could be some big risers this winter as they enter their sophomore seasons.    Mitchell is a sophomore to watch at Mount Si who has shown some nice potential as a versatile guard. She can work defenders off the bounce, has the ability to hit some shots from the perimeter, and shows the presence of mind to attack rebounding lanes and contribute on the glass. She also has some length that plays on the defensive end and shows good aggression to act on reads and attack the ball.     McCartney has outstanding size for a guard/wing and she is starting to really put things together offensively. She is a high-potential player who has shown she can play around bodies down low, stay strong and either use her length to score or find teammates out of doubles. She works well at the high post and has the stroke to capitalize on space or shoot over smaller defenders from that range, and she has shown that stroke could translate to a high-percentage shot from behind the arc.     Wright's a girl who has the physicality to bang inside, finish at the cup, and contribute on the glass, but she's also a pretty impressive playmaker, especially from the high post. She sees well over the top of the defense, is quick to face up and assess the floor, and knows what to anticipate before she catches the ball so she can act quickly. She's also shown she can hit those midrange shots, making her a threat to stretch the defense a little, pop out and hit jumpers off of paint touches, and play in the pick-and-pop.     Rowe is a really promising sophomore who already understands how to play big on both ends, in particular how to defend the rim without fouling. Not only does she get big by the rim, blocking shots and making those she can't get to tough chances, but she's also proven to be effective on the move. She can rack up tips on PNRs and shows a willingness to show quickly and force guards to really work to get by her.
