West Potomac
West Potomac was a team I knew had talent coming into the year, but they've exceeded my expectations. West Potomac has one of the more balanced attacks in the area, and they have 5 or 6 players that can consistently give you 10+ points. Senior Guard [player_tooltip player_id='755782' first='Olivia' last='Jones'] is the engine for this team. [player_tooltip player_id='1251838' first='Dawn' last='Houston'] and [player_tooltip player_id='644092' first='Abby' last='Beddis'] knock down shots and have had some big performances this year. Jill Humphries is a player to watch and has had her fair share of big performances as well. There are other young players on this team who contribute now and will be a big part of their future. West Potomac is 10-0 heading into the new year with a handful of terrific wins.

Heritage
Heritage looks like one of the more improved teams in the area so far this year, and they win games in a couple of ways. Heritage gets gritty wins and knows who wins games with their defense. They are 7-3 and have two close losses to very good teams. Alysa Stanford has had some big games on the glass as an interior scorer. Kaitlyn Puzenski, Rachael Stewart, and Riley Makika all contribute to this team as well. They have other really solid players, and they get after it on the glass.

Oakton
Oakton seems to compete with the best teams year after year, and they have looked great so far this season. Oakton is 10-0 and just wrapped up a 3-0 week. They are solid defensively and have a lot of production from returning players. [player_tooltip player_id='876808' first='Sophie' last='Toole'] is one of the better guards in the area, and there are a handful of players who contribute to this team.

Potomac Falls
Potomac Falls was not a team I had on my radar heading into the season, but they picked up a couple of fantastic wins early in the year. Potomac Falls has already tied their total wins from last year and stand at 7-1. [player_tooltip player_id='813918' first='Brynn' last='Hunter'] is a solid player for this Pot Falls team, and they look like one of the most improved teams in NOVA.

South County
South County was a team I expected to be good this year, but the development of some of their players has impressed me. South County has quality wins, and they have a couple of elite guards. Natayla Wooten is an elite defender and has taken a leap on the offensive end in her Sophomore season. [player_tooltip player_id='722607' first='Laila' last='Tull'] was one of the top players in NOVA last year, and she is another fantastic guard this team has. South County is 7-1 right now and will take on Oakton in a huge game on Thursday.

Edison
Edison has gotten off to a great start to this season and sits at 8-1. Their lone loss is to Centreville, who is as good as any public school in NOVA. [player_tooltip player_id='1092542' first='Sarah' last='Chawki'] is one of the most underrated players in the state, and she with Shannon Heiner is a fantastic backcourt duo. Edison has a few quality wins and a tough team to deal with.
