USE CODE "tinnon30" FOR 30% OFF THE FIRST PURCHASE OF ANY SUBSCRIPTION

As exams wrap up and the first half of the school semester comes to a close, kids all around the state are happy to get a break. One thing I love about this time of the year ( of course spending time with family on the holidays), but it's the multiple midseason tournaments that will be going on before and after Christmas. These tournaments keep teams sharp and give them one more opportunity to iron out some things before the new year. When the new year rings in, district play begins, and that is when every night counts as teams jockey for positions in the standings. Seeding matters for multiple reasons. Winning matters. Therefore, each game is a battle of will. With that being said, the matchups on deck are something to look forward to in 2025.

If I were a teacher and I had to turn my mid-semester report in on the young ladies who are student athletes that play basketball, I would be giving out a whole lot of A's for the first half.

A- For teams playing a competitive style of basketball.

A- For the effort and excelling on the hardwood.

A- For improvement, because from city to city, the quality has risen.

A- For the amount of young ladies who are getting noticed.

NA- For the refs because well, we got some good ones. Let's just put it that way, but they aren't applicable to this article.

My point, in closing out the 2024 year, 2025 is going to be a good one thanks to the hard work and effort these young ladies have put in on the floor.

Now if there were awards to be given out for mid-term, there would be tons of them. We have a lot of girls who are excelling right now. Though the season is early and kids haven't peaked yet, there are some girls who are just on a tear at the moment. Here are just a few girls who are getting after it lighting up the stat sheet and helping their ball club stack wins.

There is a reason why I call her the Cameron Brink of Tennessee basketball and it isn't because of her long and lanky size and blond hair. This young lady can play and is a beast on the interior. Great in the screen game, she terrorizes opponents around the elbow areas and short corners. She controls the boards, blocks shots, and runs the floor in transition, positioning herself to receive an easy pass to finish around the rim. This kid is a difference maker and she is plowing through the opposition left and right. Look for her to continue on this streak and be a force down the stretch.

She's a difference maker. A creative guard who can score from all 3 levels, but it's her ability to facilitate the rock that has her Lady Mustangs ball club riding high. When she is in the game, the ball moves (side-top-side), dump here, penetration here, kick out, knockdown 3. I mean the way the game flows when AJ is in the game is amazing. She does so with a smile and you can tell she is out there having fun. She's a gym rat who is constantly seeking ways to get better to help her club. Great kid with a bright future.

Every time I turn around this young lady is lighting up the stat sheet. She's doing things not only on the offensive end (scoring in double figure), but what's impressive is her ability to get it done on the defensive end as well. This kid is a gamer, putting a seatbelt on the opposition by getting steals and controlling the boards. She's the engine for her ball club and sets the tone every single time they step on the floor. Keep an eye out for this young lady as she is getting it done in more ways than one.

Her presence alone makes Bradley Central hard to beat. One of the best in the state, she's the best two way player who dominates on the inside. Offensively, she can stretch the floor, but in the mid-range and block areas she is golden, unleashing multiple moves to get to and finish at the rim. Defensively, she is physical, blocks shots, and owns the boards. The thought of her even being down low makes coaches change their game plans. Kimora continues to get better and has been battle tested on various stages. She is the heartbeat of this ballclub and is one of the many reasons this team may be on their way to making history this year. Tremendous kid that is a force to be reckoned with.

Tough. Kid keeps her head on a swivel and is hard to contain. A 3 level scoring threat who just gets after it. She can attack the gaps, pull up in transition, or knock down the open 3. Has a little sauce in her game and if you try to trap her, she will split the two and find her way to the rim. She's a gamechanger and is tough on both ends of the floor. Steals, rebounds, you name it, she contributes all across the board. Look for her to make this last ride a good one as she helps uplift her ball club to new heights.
